🫣 𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐅𝐀 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤!
It recently came to our attention that a very particular, and clever form of hacking has been happening - 'Man in the Middle'...
This is when an attacker generates an email (typically) containing a link (nothing new here), that looks and in fact behaves precisely as you would expect it to. Here's an example...
1️⃣ You get an email from a client to download a file.
2️⃣ When you click the link that you recognise, trust and were expecting, you're taken to a log-in page.
3️⃣ This is the fake bit - when you log in, you are directed to your expected file BUT, your details have been copied.
5️⃣ In the end - you get your file from your client, but the Man in the Middle gets the keys to the castle...
Now, of course, it's not really a man - this type of attack is AI-driven and therefore super-quick. You have to be extremely well protected to prevent the risk spreading further into your systems.
Targeted attacks like this can be difficult to spot, but there's always something that gives them away. If you're ever taken to a page that asks for your username and password, that's a strong sign that something's amiss. Always check. Distrust by default
