Feeling a bit warm? This photo might help cool you down...

A few months ago, our friends at Woodbridge Museum shared this fantastic photograph in the articles section of their website. It shows people standing on the frozen River Deben at Ferry Quay in 1895 – something that's pretty hard to imagine while we're enjoying this spell of hot weather!

This remarkable photograph captures an extraordinary winter in 1895, when the River Deben froze solid enough for people to stand on the ice. Among those pictured is Arthur Fairweather, owner and editor of the Woodbridge Reporter.

The developer, Bloor Homes, designed this mixed-use project, which represents a £1 billion investment in the region and is set to deliver essential housing and employment opportunities over the next decade

A local Suffolk woman, passionate about the county’s historic parks and gardens, came to us with years of research she hoped to share publicly. What began as a personal archive has grown into a beautifully structured online inventory with tailored search tools, precise information display, and a workflow that keeps everything accurate and copyright-safe.

The site has been designed to evolve over time, as more entries are written, reviewed and published.

Built to match her own design and user journey, the website is calm, clear, and aligned with her vision, making it easy for both the creator and the community to explore Suffolk’s remarkable historic parks and gardens.
