About us
HamLabs is an Amateur (Ham) Radio focused non-profit organisation raising funds, acquiring equipment or offering services to support the amateur radio community here in the UK. The idea started from a request to clear a radio shack of very dear friend who had sadly passed away (became silent key). Our thoughts were along the lines of being part of a radio club or society, members would
usually be asked if there wished to purchase and items before they go on general sale. Developing that idea we formed HamLabs to handle repairs and sales of equipment, to make donations on behalf families to nominated charities or organisations from the sales of equipment donated to HamLabs. It was soon realised that some donated equipment was in need of repair so our own engineers will make cost effective repairs where possible. Our Ethos
To give back to the Amateur (Ham) radio community. Support new people into amateur radio. Support community members with genuine need. Support youth organisations developing ideas for the future. Become part of the community. To become part of the community is a bit like belonging to a club or society but the difference is as well as the option to pay a yearly subsidiary you could make donations of equipment or provide a service to the community. Each application is taken on it’s own merits, should you wish to apply please send an email to [email protected]
How does it work? We accept all obsolete and or silent key equipment, radio’s, antennas and general radio related items. We will sell serviceable items either direct from our website here or via ebay and radio rallies. All monies from the sale of an item or items after deducting expenses are returned to the donator or used in accordance with the donators wishes. Our expenses are made up of the costs of removal and transportation of equipment plus running costs of the organisation for which a 20% fee is deducted from sales. The other main source of income in addition to sales are the donations received made possible by the generosity of the many relatives and colleagues of radio amateurs that wish to give something back to the amateur radio community. We thank those that kindly support us on a regular basis.
