🚨 Hardware Prices are Rising - Why is this happening? 🚨
Throughout the past year, the world has seen a sharp increase in the cost of computer hardware, including processors, RAM and storage. Experts have predicted that this trend will continue well into 2026 and beyond.
---
🤔 So why is this?
1️⃣ The AI Boom and Data Centre Demand
The surge in artificial intelligence has created an unprecedented demand for high-performance hardware. Data centres all around the world are now buying massive quantities of hardware to power the AI workloads. Manufacturers are prioritising these high-margin workloads, which is leaving less supply for consumer-grade components.
2️⃣ Component Shortages
Analysts report contract hikes of 15-20%, with some RAM categories up over 70% year-on-year. SSD storage is also affected, as production cuts during slower demand periods collide with today's surge.
With DDR4 also being phased out, DDR5 (whilst faster) comes with higher productivity costs. As older stock dwindles, prices for both remain volatile.
3️⃣ Windows 10 End-of-Life
Microsoft have now officially ended support for Windows 10. This means that PCs still running Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates, leaving them vulnerable. This is creating a surge in demand for Windows 11-compatible devices, which require higher specs and modern CPUs.
4️⃣ Supply Chain Pressures
Global supply chains are experiencing disruptions and shipping delays, which are also adding extra costs. With these factors, along with inflation and rising logistics expenses, hardware prices are unlikely to stabilise anytime soon.
---
🧑💼 What does this mean for your business?
- Prices have already risen significantly and are expected to continue rising throughout 2026 and beyond.
- Supply is tightening, making it harder to source new laptops and components quickly.

🫵 What Should I do?
🚨 ACT NOW 🚨
If you need a new PC or laptop, the best thing to do is act now. With prices still on the rise and not about to stop, it is important that all of your PCs are updated and Windows 11 compatible.
