I also custom build machines for gaming, music production or just general family or single person use. With custom builds back in the day, it used to be cheaper to build a PC than to buy one in the shops. Now mass production has made PC components so cheap that they can deliver you high spec machines for cheaper in the main stores. To the standard PC buyer its the Specification on the ticket that matters along with price when really they should also be looking at the components in the machine for stability, reliability and life span as well as performance. Many Machines on the mass production line use motherboards from Foxconn and the like. These are ok boards but when you buy a PC for £500-£800 you want more than just a motherboard that's ok, you want software that's going to integrate with your hardware that can tell you whats wrong if a fault arises, ease of use, future proof technology with maximum connectivity for your budget, you may want to upgrade your machine down the line. Foxconn mass shipped motherboards do allow this to an extent but they limit you so that you have to either spend out more on a new machine or use the company you bought the PC from to fix/ upgrade it. Look for a PC on Amazon or eBay??? yeah i can find a i7 3770k machine, with 8gb ddr3 memory and 2tb hard drive for £649 with windows 7 64bit! But what do you actually get???? what memory? what speed is the memory, what make is the power supply? what wattage is the power suplly and how efficient is it, what motherboard is in the machine??? you could end up with a bottom of the range gigabyte at best, maybe a Foxconn, with 8gb ddr3 1333mhz memory and a 500w power supply! BUT YOU GET A REALLY GOOD GRAPHICS CARD!!! AND ITS I7 AND 8GB MEMORY!!! If i told you you could get for close to £700 i7 3770k, 8gb ddr3 1600mhz corsair Vengeance memory, ASUS P8Z77-M Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) Motherboard (most stable chip set), Corsair Builder Series CX600 - 600 Watt 80 PLUS® Power Supply that uses power more efficiently and costs less to run, 1tb hard drive, in a gaming style or sleek style case, your own windows 7 64bit cd for your pc and driver disks, so no self recovery that may fail, you can upgrade your graphics card to anything you like but you can get a card capable of playing the latest games (
XFX AMD Radeon HD 7750 2GB GDDR3)! All parts are Corsair, Asus, XFX, Gigabyte Pro, G-skill! The pro names with larger warranties! like the Graphics card has 2 years. Power supply has 3 years! These are things you need and should know with your PC rather than just getting a PC with 1 years manufacturers warranty and an aftermarket care package you are paying through the nose for!
