A Nintendo Switch OLED came in with a faulty side rail, meaning the Joy-Con was no longer connecting properly to the console.

The customer got in touch and dropped it off the same day. Both side rails were replaced, the device was given a thorough internal and external clean, and fresh thermal paste was applied while it was apart.

Everything was then reassembled and fully tested, with the Joy-Cons connecting and functioning correctly again.

Dropped off and ready for the customer to collect within two days.

A straightforward repair that saved an otherwise perfectly good Switch from being replaced — and saved the customer the cost of buying another console.

Before giving up on your devices, give us a shout. Tech companies would much rather have you spend big on a replacement, but very often it simply isn't needed. Sometimes a repair is all it takes to get plenty more life out of your tech.

This Lenovo Legion Go came in after the owner noticed it was getting unusually hot. It didn't take long to find the culprit.

Once opened up, the cooling fan was absolutely packed with dust and debris, seriously restricting the amount of air it could move through the system.

Definitely one of those satisfying jobs to do. The device was carefully opened up, the fan and surrounding cooling system given a thorough deep clean, and everything reassembled and tested afterwards. The difference before and after speaks for itself.

It's also a good example of why overheating shouldn't be ignored. These handheld gaming PCs squeeze some seriously powerful hardware into a very small space and rely heavily on that cooling system. Restricted airflow can mean higher temperatures, reduced performance and constant fan noise. Left long enough, excessive heat can potentially shorten the life of components and turn a relatively simple maintenance job into a much more expensive problem.

If your Legion Go, gaming laptop or PC is suddenly running hotter or louder than it used to, it's worth getting it checked!
