At EA Playdemic, our longstanding partnership with SpecialEffect is something our entire studio holds close to heart. Earlier this week, we were thrilled to welcome Nick Streeter, SpecialEffect into the studio. He gave our team a powerful, firsthand look at the life-changing work they do every single day. He showed us exactly how technology, specialized equipment, and accessibility can transform lives and level the playing field for gamers with physical disabilities.

Inspired and motivated, our team sported our brand-new SpecialEffect t-shirts and hit the pavement for a 5k walk around the Manchester area in support of the ABLE 5k challenge! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

A massive thank you to Nick for visiting, to everyone at SpecialEffect for being an inspiration across the games industry, and to our studio team for stepping out and making every kilometer count.

The EA Playdemic University Mentorship Program 2026 has come to a close! 🎓

Over the past six months, we've had the pleasure of supporting 15 students from Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Portsmouth, and University of Staffordshire across Games Art, Games Design, Games Programming, and Games Production. 🎮

Each student was paired with an EA Playdemic mentor, meeting for an hour each month to discuss everything from career journeys and portfolio advice to industry insights and life in game development. 💬

Our goal has always been to help bridge the gap between education and the games industry by creating meaningful connections between aspiring developers and experienced professionals. We hope the students leave the program with greater confidence, clearer career goals, and valuable insight into what it's like to work in games. 🚀

A huge thank you to all of our Playdemic mentors who generously volunteered their time, experience, and encouragement throughout the program. Your commitment has made a real difference, and we're incredibly grateful for the positive impact you've had on the next generation of games talent. 💙

As a 3D Artist, you'll create high-quality assets that enhance both the in-game experience and promotional content. Working as a generalist, you'll collaborate closely with Design, Engineering, and fellow Artists to bring creative ideas to life, improve existing content, and help push the visual quality of Golf Clash even further.

Great to be at the Manchester Games Network launch yesterday 🎮

It was brilliant to see Golf Clash featured in the opening trailer alongside so many other games developed here in Manchester. It's a real reminder of the creativity and talent in the region.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with universities, studios, and fellow gaming professionals, as well as meet new faces, share ideas, and explore potential collaborations across the local ecosystem.

There’s clearly a strong momentum building in Manchester’s games industry, and it’s exciting to see a network dedicated to supporting growth, fostering collaboration, and showcasing the city on a global stage.

Looking forward to seeing how the Manchester Games Network evolves and continues to champion the incredible work coming out of this community. 🐝

It was great to be back at The University of Manchester SODA last week, where our team from EA Playdemic spent time with the next generation of game talent.

Pete (EA Senior Recruiter), Joe (EA Playdemic Designer), and Jean Pierre (EA Playdemic 3D artist) joined students for a day focused on portfolio reviews and career insights. Joe and Jean Pierre met with Game Art and Game Design students throughout the day, offering detailed feedback and guidance on their work, while Pete delivered an insightful session on breaking into the gaming industry and landing that first role.

Events like these are incredibly valuable. They give students direct access to industry professionals, real-world feedback, and a clearer understanding of what studios are looking for. That kind of exposure can make a meaningful difference as they prepare to take their first steps into the industry.

We recently welcomed the wonderful team from Paws in Work to EA Manchester. It’s safe to say they brought a lot of joy with them 🐾

Paws in Work (UK’s only fully licensed provider) specialise in therapeutic puppy sessions designed to support workplace wellbeing. Spending time with these calm, friendly dogs can help reduce stress, boost mood, and encourage people to take a mindful break from their day.

Across a series of sessions, teams from Playdemic, Criterion and EA had the chance to unwind, connect, and enjoy some time with a group of adorable long-haired Chihuahua puppies (who were definitely the stars of the show!).

The impact was immediate - plenty of smiles, a calmer atmosphere, and a great reminder of the importance of taking time to recharge.

A big thank you to our Workplace Experience team for organising such a thoughtful event, and to the Paws in Work team for creating such a positive experience for everyone involved.
