A huge thank you to Jason from VisionAid Technologies Ltd for joining our Whitehaven Social Group yesterday!

Jason led a really informative session and gave everyone the chance to explore the latest technology, including Daylight Lighting and digital magnifiers.

It was a relaxed, friendly afternoon filled with helpful demonstrations, plenty of smiles and lots of “wow, that makes such a difference!” moments 😊

Our Whitehaven Social Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 1:00pm at St Nicholas’ Church, Whitehaven ☕🍪

These devices are very popular and easy to use, making it easier to read😊

We have various demonstration models of these devices in our Resource Centre and also offer home visits.

Looking for a friendly place to connect with others? 😊

Our social groups offer a welcoming space to meet people who share similar experiences of living with sight loss. Each session includes friendly conversation, guest speakers and refreshments, making it a great way to feel supported and stay connected.

Our Cockermouth Group meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 10:00am.
Our Whitehaven Group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 1:00pm.

Our new collection boxes have arrived!

The kindness of our community and donors makes a huge difference to our charity and service users. We couldn't do it without your support!

All donations go towards enabling us to support people living with visual impairments across West Cumbria.

We are currently distributing our new collection boxes throughout West Cumbria. If you have a suitable location and would like one, or know someone who does, please let us know! 😊

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) glasses have arrived at our charity! 👓

We now have Ray‑Ban Meta (Gen 2) smart glasses available for demonstration, offering helpful features like voice control and hands‑free support for people living with sight loss.

These glasses offer features like spoken descriptions, voice commands and hands‑free access to information, offering practical support throughout the day.

You can try them in our Resource Centre on Lowther Street, Whitehaven, or if you are housebound our Vision Support Officer can bring them to you during a home visit. Please give us a call if you'd like to find out more information 🙂

We’re excited to share that our charity has a brand new website! 😊

You can now easily find information about the services and support we offer, along with plenty of helpful resources and our contact details.

The website also offers a Referral-In page, making it easier to contact us with a new enquiry.

We have designed the website with accessibility as a priority, making it easier for our service users to access the support they need. We will continue to develop and build the website over time.
