π¨π¨ SCAM WARNING! CRIMINALS ARE TARGETING MAC USERS! π¨π¨
We need to warn our customers about something very serious.
Recently, weβve dealt with several scams targeting our clients, with some coming dangerously close to losing THOUSANDS OF POUNDS! π·
And these criminals are getting increasingly convincing.
π» THE REMOTE ACCESS SCAM
Someone calls pretending to be from Apple, your bank or technical support. They claim thereβs a problem with your Mac and ask you to install AnyDesk, TeamViewer or similar remote-access software.
DONβT DO IT! β
You could be giving a complete stranger access to your computer and personal information.
π± THE PHONE NUMBER HIJACKING SCAM
Scammers may pretend to be your mobile provider and trick you into sharing a security or verification code.
They may use this to help transfer your phone number to a SIM they control, potentially allowing them to receive your calls and texts β including security codes used by some of your accounts.
NEVER GIVE A VERIFICATION CODE TO SOMEONE WHO HAS CALLED YOU! β
π§ THE FAKE EMAIL SCAM
Emails can look like theyβve come from Apple, your bank or another company you trust, but contain dangerous links or attachments.
If youβre not sure, DONβT CLICK!
π¨ REMEMBER:
β Never share your Mac password
β Never give an unexpected caller remote access
β Never share verification or security codes
β Donβt trust a caller simply because the number looks genuine
β
Hang up and contact the company yourself using a number you already know and trust
π IF IN DOUBT, CALL APPEL!
Keith and Sulaiman are here to help. Weβd much rather answer a quick question than see another customer become a victim.
