“𝐏𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐐” - 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲.

Every couple has their own unique brand. Mark & Amy had a really clear vision for their wedding: pairing traditional elegance with a cheeky, casual tone-of-voice. They also wanted a bespoke logomark, just for them, that included their family symbol of an owl 🦉. This distinctive icon tied together all wedding communications, from the Save the Dates, to the wax seal on the Invitations, and as the final sign off on the Order of Service.

I used vintage floral watercolour illustrations, adapted to fit the couple’s muted colour scheme. I balanced these with a lively scripted typeface and clean gold foiling to give a more contemporary finish.

As a meticulous designer, it was a joy to follow this project through from initial mood boards, to detailed design, proof-reading, paper sourcing & print. There’s nothing more satisfying than holding the first copy of a printed design in your hands.

What would you choose for your wedding branding?

𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐫 & 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢'𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐂𝐨. Charli's Nail Co.

Charli approached me looking for a brand identity that would give her nail art business the professional polish she needed to take it to the next level. There was no existing logo or design style, so this was a gleeful exploration of everything that makes her work unique.

Charli’s Nail Co. is all about celebrating feminine power, boosting confidence & joy and above all a friendly, creative collaboration with anyone who wants to have beautiful, affordable and high-quality nails that express who they are inside.

I decided on a bold, high-contrast illustration style for the logo, using a butterfly to represent colourful transformation. The strong line-art is clean & modern and leans into Charli’s pop-culture influences whilst the bright gradients help bring softness & a touch of 90s nostalgia.

The palette of supporting graphics contains nods to Charli’s love of mythology & sci-fi, and are the finishing touches to a brand as colourful and individual as she is.

"𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐠" - 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫.

This project was definitely a new experience, after connecting with so many other people's stories, it was time to tell my own.

These playful invitations for our wedding at 'The Bell', capture the botanical theme of the day. The leafy, floral elements were inspired by memories of my husband's late Mum, who was a botanist and loved all things that grow.

With the addition of bright neon inks
I found the perfect balance between elegance & fun.

Hiya, I’m Rachael Risk, a Graphic Designer with a geeky approach to creative problem solving.

I have a decade of experience working within an agency for clients such as Jamie Oliver & Penguin Books. Now a freelancer, my focus is on creating meaningful brands for small businesses.

When I'm not designing, you can find me exploring through Somerset with my little boy, baking more cakes than I can eat, working my way through a pile of fantasy novels that seems to always get bigger & catching up on all things nerdy & political.

What's your story? I'd love to find out more about you & what's next in your adventure.
