Without auto-electricians and mechanics, the world wouldn’t grind to a halt overnight, but it would start breaking down faster than most people expect.
First, modern vehicles are heavily dependent on electronics. Without auto-electricians, issues with things like sensors, battery systems, or onboard computers and control modules wouldn’t get fixed. Even something as simple as a faulty starter motor or wiring issue could leave a car unusable for a (longer than "normal" period of time). Over time, more and more vehicles would be abandoned because no one could properly diagnose or repair them.
Mechanics are just as critical. Without them, routine maintenance, oil changes, brake repairs, engine overhauls, suspension repairs and welding, engine servicing, wouldn’t happen. Cars, vans, buses, and trucks would wear out quickly and become unsafe. Breakdowns would become extremely common, and accidents would likely increase due to poorly maintained vehicles.
The ripple effects would be huge:
Transport systems would struggle: Delivery trucks, public buses, taxis, out of service. Getting food, parcels, and essential goods would slow down or stop in some areas.
Emergency services would be impacted: Ambulances, fire engines, and police vehicles rely on constant maintenance. Their response times and reliability would suffer.
Businesses would take a hit: Logistics, construction, farming, industries dependant on vehicles and machinery. Costs would rise, and productivity would drop.
Everyday life would change: Commuting would become unreliable. People might rely more on walking, cycling, or limited public transport. Cities could become quieter, but also less functional. For us in our rural network, this would prove almost impossible.
In short, auto-electricians and mechanics are part of the invisible backbone of modern life. Without them, mobility, supply chains, and emergency response would all become less reliable and daily life would feel a lot less convenient and a lot more uncertain.
Your tradesmen would not be able to turn up to work at your house, in their van full of tools, without a running & functioning van.
Your fuel wouldn't get to your local petrol station without a reliable, running HGV.
Your local supermarket would run out of stock, if it wasn't for a reliable, running HGV.
Your ambulance wouldn't turn up in a desperate time of need, without a reliable, running ambulance.
Just a moment of appreciation!
