Keeping Kids Safe Online

Keeping Kids Safe Online Technology is brilliant, if used correctly, and it's here to stay. Hourly rate/packages available. I offer several different ways to help.

As a parent I know how much kids (and adults!) rely on technology in life so, my mission, is to help protect children and ensure they are safe online. In person (if within a reasonable distance), online or I can provide a bespoke instruction package. I charge by the hour, or I can offer a package rate with or without ongoing support. I can also help older people who may be struggling with technology.

Interesting. I commented on a local grassroots football page about the "safety" of parents videos of kids games and then posting online. Apparently my comments around potential safeguarding issues, deep fake p**n, location, AI potential, the fact that online paedophilia went up by circa 50% when COVID-19 hit etc. were not well received! I have now been banned from the group. Are parents/coaches of grassroots football immune to what is out there?

So sorry for the lack of posting. I did a "talk" lately at a local primary school about online safety and smartphones etc. to parents/carers. The Head Teacher banned me from saying that online paedophilia went up by about 50% when COVID-19 hit. Do parents not want to know the truth?

Been a while since I have posted. Concerned about your kids going back to school or getting them a phone? Get in touch.

Be aware there is a rather nasty group doing the rounds amongst children called world gc. The people who set it up invite children and is then being used to share rather nasty images of adults and very inappropriate conversations. Been reported in Oxfordshire and may be elsewhere in the UK.

As many people know... I am strict with tech for my son (is it strict or just keeping him safe!?) But.... here he is with his dad playing a football knowledge game on his phone. I am cool with that. They are sharing knowledge of something that they both love, learning and focused on each other. This is a good example of tech.

Parental controls.... absolutely vital for younger kids tech, but what happens as they get older? Received this email as my son turned 13. So, now a dilemma. To keep some oversight, or allow him free reign? Talking to your children about being safe is something that should be a continuous, open and honest coversation, especially as they get older.... and I felt very old reading that email.
Conversation. Comunication. Education. All vital in this fast paced, ever changing technical world.

How did you spend your weekend? I spent a lot of mine helping someone recover a hacked email account. Turns out Virgin Media are absolutely rubbish at helping people who pay hundreds of pounds a month change a password. Anyway. Someone else I know had their FB account hacked and now cannot run their business. Meta are also rubbish at helping people. Always good to know that these companies are "available".... not. Change your passwords. Make them "difficult". Look after your online presence.

So. I am going to mention the "C" word.... Christmas (sorry)
If you are considering buying your child a new console/phone/laptop/tablet for Christmas (or any other time) and aren't sure how to set it up correctly so your child is as safe as they can be then I can help.
As an "aside" to my main job I run KKSO (keeping kids safe online) I can also help older people (or anyone to be fair) with online safety, tech help even setting up TV's! I am enhanced DBS checked, welfare officer for my sports club and have done specialist safeguarding (and a mum of a 12 Yr old whose xbox and other tech I oversee from my phone.....son hates me! But, he is safe and understands tech)
It is SO important to educate children about being online and keeping them as safe as possible should be a top priority. Vault apps ring any bells?
So, if you would rather your child has to ask for more screen time rather than the battle to get them away from screen time, feel free to message me on here or email [email protected]
Many thanks.
