St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Mossley Hill, Liverpool.
It was during December 2022 Anthony Bogdan was asked to visit St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church to submit a scheme for a new digital organ.
Anthony Bogdan had been recommended from installations he had done locally in St Oswald Catholic Church, Old Swan, Liverpool and St Mary Catholic Church, Billinge.
Working with organist Samuel Ferry M.Mus. Anthony put together estimates for three schemes all using Viscount Physis Technology.
Towards autumn 2024 Anthony Bogdan and Samuel Ferry met to decide which scheme would be most suitable for St Anthonys. The discussions included the expansion of the choir and music for The Mass.
The organ selected was the Viscount Envoy 350 FV. Six speakers positioned on top of the swell box and a bass unit situated in the north west corner of the choir gallery.
The Church then extended the plinth from the old pipe organ to the front of the choir gallery. Anthony Bogdan and the engineer put in the speaker cables before the joiner completed the extended plinth in readiness for the carpet fitter.
The organ and speakers were delivered to site and the team set about getting the three manual organ up into the gallery. The speakers were placed on the swell box and connected.
Anthony Bogdan did a voicing visit, loading in all his model voices, as the organ was to be used for the first time that week on St Cecelia’s day Friday 22nd November 2024.
There were two more voicing visits in December and a further visit is planned for January 2025. Samuel has some further adjustments in mind after the Christmas Services.

St Asaph Parish Church
St Asaph Parish Church was reordered in 2020. What a stunning job. The very small pipe organ was disposed of and the church was given a small Content organ. It was decided that the organ would benefit from some speakers.

Anthony Bogdan Organs were contracted to supply and connect four new speakers hidden just above the plaster on the north wall.

The speaker installation was completed December 2020 just before the covid lockdown. Whilst the installation was sucessful it was thought that the dutch sound was not quite right for the church. Anthony Bodan Organs was contacted and a small party came over to our workshop in Leigh to see the new Ensign Compact 35 which uses the new Physis+ technology

A Faculty was applied for and in October 2024 the team set about delivering the new organ.

Our engineer set about removing the external amplifier which we had fitted to the Content Organ and transferred it to the Viscount Ensign Organ. A little bit of rerouting of the speaker cable and the organ was ready for test.

The unique Anthony Bogdan voicing had been loaded in at Viscount Bicester and Anthony then produced his computer and preceeded to regulate the Organ to the building.

The organ voicing nearing completion The Reverend Canon Rex Matthias, who is Canon Precentor of the Cathedral and Priest in Charge of the Parish Church, was asked to give it a test drive.

The Church now resounds to the English tonality of the new Viscount Organ, Rich full swells, silvery mixtures, which do not scream, all underpinned by a solid pedal division.

The new organ has been well received by the congregation who sing the Welsh hymns with gusto.
