Could a career at Hertzian be the right fit for you? 💼🤔

Earlier this year, we were named one of the Best Places to Work in Cornwall for the second year in a row 🏆🎉. This recognition comes entirely from direct, anonymous feedback from our own team.

A big thank you to Business Cornwall for organising the Best Places to Work in Cornwall and for celebrating the businesses creating great places to work across the county.

We’re incredibly proud of the culture we’ve built here and more motivated than ever to keep growing. Sustainable growth needs fresh perspectives, which is why Hertzian is committed to creating opportunities for people at every stage of their careers, from interns and apprentices to experienced professionals.

At Hertzian, we’ve always believed that our biggest innovations and successes come from lifting each other up and creating an environment fuelled by trust, collaboration and continuous growth.

By building cutting-edge artificial intelligence in Cornwall, we’re not just growing our own capabilities. We're investing in the wider Cornish business ecosystem and helping ensure Cornwall remains a competitive, vibrant hub for technology and innovation.

But don’t just take our word for it. Hear from the people who work here:

“Working at Hertzian allows me to build a career in an industry I’m passionate about while staying close to the people I care about. What I appreciate most is the trust and autonomy we’re given. Being fully remote has never been a barrier to building close relationships within the team or with clients. There’s a real sense of ownership here, backed up by genuine support. Plus, with PlayerXP, I get to work directly with gaming communities and studios I truly admire. Every project is different, and there’s always something new to learn, which is exactly what I love in a job.”
— Benedetto Bottalico “Benny”, Solutions Manager

“The culture at Hertzian is incredibly people-focused, with a massive emphasis on employee wellbeing and a healthy work-life balance. Throughout my time here, the team has gone above and beyond to back my professional development, creating an environment that has allowed me to thrive and keep moving forward in my career.”

👋 We're hiring a Commercial Manager!

Are you naturally skilled at engaging with the public and bringing genuine empathy to your business relationships?

At Hertzian, we are dedicated to pushing boundaries. We use AI and Machine Learning to turn customer and public sentiment into insights businesses can act on. We're a small, skilled team building technology from Cornwall, and we've been named Best Place to Work in Cornwall for two years running (2025 & 2026).
We're looking for a Commercial Manager to lead business expansions in the South West and beyond.

This isn't traditional technical sales. You'll work with organisations to understand their challenges, build meaningful relationships with senior stakeholders, and show how AI-powered sentiment analysis can create real commercial value.

We're looking for someone who:
• Understands consumer behaviour and the psychology behind brands.
• Has industry experience in Hospitality, Tourism, Games or Consumer Goods.
• Is naturally empathetic and confident building relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Understands how to turn business challenges into commercial opportunities.
• Is based in the South West and comfortable with regular travel.

We don't believe an algorithm should filter out great candidates. A real person at Hertzian reviews every application!

Good technology needs the right people behind it, and if this sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.

Deadline: 30 September 2026

☀️ Sunshine, strategy, and seriously good BBQ!

There's nothing quite like getting the whole team together. Last week, we did exactly that for a day of company updates, BBQ, games, and plenty of laughs.

We started with presentations, catching up on company progress and getting an exciting glimpse of what's coming next. There are some brilliant projects in the pipeline that we can't wait to share with you.

👏 Then came the highlight of the day. A huge thank you to Andrew, with Christian lending a hand, for taking charge of the BBQ. From the prep and marinades to cooking an incredible feast, they absolutely delivered!
The rest of the afternoon was exactly what a team day should be: great food, games, lots of laughs, and a chance to relax and catch up in the sunshine.

It was also great to welcome our new intern, Ellie, who wasted no time settling in... or sweeping up in the various games we played. Safe to say she set the bar high by winning most of the tournaments!

Days like these are a great reminder of how important it is to step away from our desks, spend time together, and recharge as a team. ✨

📍 Yesterday, our CEO, Christopher Weavill, and Senior Full Stack Developer, Christian Dove, joined local companies and organisations at the St Austell Hub for Cornwall Council’s Youth Engagement Programme (YEP). They spent the day speaking with over 150 ambitious young people aged 16 to 24, answering real questions about what it takes to build a career in software engineering.

The YEP initiative provides vital, structured support to help vulnerable young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET) build confidence and essential career skills. Chris and Christian really enjoyed chatting with the groups and sharing industry insights, including a lovely full-circle moment for Christian, who caught up with his former college lecturer!

🌱 Over the last few months, we have been spending a lot of time working closely with aspiring talent across the region. Events like this matter because they show that there are real opportunities to build a career in technology right here in Cornwall. We are always keen to support people taking their first steps into the industry, whether that is through work experience, internships, or simply having a conversation about where to start.

📩 While our Academy of AI is currently full due to high demand, we would still love to hear from you. Get in touch with our team today to discuss future Hertzian internships or work experience opportunities!

🎙️ Ask around about AI, and you'll usually hear the same recommendations. Use the same cloud tools as everyone else. Yesterday at the Cornwall Manufacturers Group's AI for Manufacturers Summit, our CEO, Christopher Weavill, challenged that thinking.

His keynote explored why organisations should look beyond off-the-shelf AI and consider open-source, on-premises alternatives that put them back in control of their technology. From strengthening data security and reducing long-term costs to avoiding vendor lock-in, Chris explained why owning your AI infrastructure is not just a technical decision. It is a strategic one.

Our CTO, Andrew Husband, joined Chris throughout the day, speaking with local manufacturers about what deploying these technologies actually looks like in practice. The conversations were not just about AI. They were about building resilient, future-ready businesses.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing more than 20 Cornish organisations engaging in open discussions about the future of their technology. It is encouraging to see so many businesses thinking proactively about how they can innovate while retaining ownership of the systems they depend on.
What makes Cornwall so special is this exact willingness to collaborate, share what we are learning, and build practical tech solutions together.

As Christopher Weavill put it:

"It is not often I get to do a deep dive into open source and on-premises AI with the manufacturing sector, but the engagement yesterday was brilliant. A massive thank you to Harry Young Jamieson and Eric Nicholls for the invitation. It was a fantastic day, and it is great to see Cornish businesses actively collaborating to take control of their own technological futures."

A huge thank you to the Cornwall Manufacturers Group team for organising such a fantastic event, and to everyone who stayed afterwards to continue the conversation!

📩 Missed the summit, or left Chris’s keynote with ideas about your own business? Curious how taking control of your AI stack can actually secure your data and make operations run smoother? Get in touch; we love working with ambitious organisations that want practical, future-ready solutions.

Following our visit with Falmouth University's Games Academy, we are thrilled to share part two of our story! 🐚

Our CEO, Christopher Weavill, and the judging panel recently awarded first place and £3,000 in funding at the Dragons' Den event to Charlotte May and Arwen Weston for their business, Kreyon.

We welcomed Charlotte and Arwen to the Hertzian office for an afternoon of mentorship and networking, getting a firsthand look at how circular design can disrupt a traditional market.

⭐️ The Product: Local Problems, Local Solutions
Named after the Cornish word 'Krey' (meaning chalk), Kreyon replaces carbon-heavy, imported drawing chalk with a premium, zero-waste alternative harvested right from the Cornish coastline. By using discarded Pacific oyster shells, which are an invasive species threatening our marine ecosystems, sourced from local restaurants, they are turning a regional ecological hazard into a creative tool.

The team is currently developing lines for outdoor play, a premium artist range, and custom seashell-shaped chalk boxes!

What’s Next?
To take this collaboration to the next level, Arwen and Charlotte will be joining the Hertzian team for an internship this autumn, where we will continue to mentor them.

Huge congratulations once again to Charlotte and Arwen. Read the full story of their visit and more about their product on our blog: https://www.hertzian.co.uk/blog/kreyon-dragons-den-winners

A few months back, we welcomed some incredible students from Falmouth University Games Academy to the Hertzian office! 🎮🤖

After our CEO, Christopher Weavill, judged Falmouth’s Dragon's Den-style pitch event, we knew we wanted to support this group's creativity, ambition, and determination, even if they didn't take home the top prize.

The day was filled with conversations about careers, sharing AI insights, exploring our office, and offering mentorship. We were also lucky enough to see their projects up close:

🛠️ The Game Board by Retconic (Brandon Bartley): A brilliant browser-based planning platform for indie devs.

🐾 Paws of Destruction (Ellie Smith & Sam Lloyd): A personality-filled game we can’t wait to watch grow.

"It's clear they're a smart, dedicated, and driven group of young people. I hope they find our advice helpful as they continue on their journey." — Andy, Hertzian CTO.

At Hertzian, we’ve always believed that Cornwall’s tech future is in the hands of the next generation. By supporting emerging talent, we’re helping to build a stronger, more connected community.

🏆 Up next, we’ll be shining a light on the winners of the pitch event. Keep an eye out for their stories coming soon.

🏛️ One of the standout moments from our trip to London happened away from the exhibition halls, inside the Palace of Westminster.

We were honoured to spend time discussing the future of Cornwall's growing technology sector and the opportunities ahead for our region, alongside people passionate about ensuring Cornwall's voice is represented on the national stage.

The visit came during a packed week at London Tech Week and The AI Summit London, where conversations across the industry focused on the future of AI, sovereign infrastructure, and how businesses can move beyond the hype to deliver real-world value.

For us, the biggest takeaway was clear: organisations that invest in practical AI solutions, strong partnerships, and ownership of their technology will be best placed for long-term success.

We're also incredibly proud that our CEO, Chris Weavill, was recognised as a finalist for AI Champion of the Year at the National AI Awards. 🏆
