A new customer gets in touch about a 2020 M1 MacBook Air that would no longer power on or take any charge...
"It is currently sitting at the Apple Store in Edinburgh. They have been unable to revive it and they have checked all small components but they cannot find anything wrong. The is no evidence of water damage or impact damage so they think it has perhaps been a power surge. They can only replace the logic board and I will lose all data."
A £500 repair bill and total loss of all data on the laptop.

Water damage found within 10 seconds of removing the bottom cover and in the location well-known to render an M1 MacBook Air 'dead'. £40 in parts required, something for my time and the result is a functioning laptop with no data lost.
