Can I say something that might sting a little?!

Of course you can figure it out yourself.

The tech. The strategy. That random email newsletter,

You're capable. I know you know that.

But capable doesn't mean you should.

But every hour you spend Googling your way through something someone else could solve in ten minutes? That's an hour you didn't spend on the thing only you can do.

I spent so long proving I could handle it all. And I could. But my business only started moving when I stopped treating "asking for help" like a last resort and started treating it like a strategy.

Your time is the most finite resource you have. Spend it like it matters.

How many times have you said "I'll sort my shop out when things quieten down"?

I get it. I say it too!

Because life is busy 🙌

I have had to physically put movement in my calendar this week like it's a meeting I can't move because left to my own devices I will absolutely not do it.

But I did it and I feel so much better for it and I am wearing this outfit so I think we can all agree it was worth it.

I know we talk a lot about working smarter and protecting our time but I genuinely think this is part of it. My brain works better when I move. My clients get a better version of me. It just requires the admin of actually planning it which, as a fellow business owner, I know is not always the fun part.

Can I tell you something that genuinely changed how I think about email marketing?

For the longest time I was sending the same email to everyone on my list and wondering why it wasn't really doing much. Then I started segmenting my list and things began to change.

All it means is: different people get different messages.

Because if you think about it:

the customer who found you last week is in a completely different headspace to the one who's bought from you three times. They need to hear something different from you.

And the person who filled their basket and then disappeared? They probably just need a gentle nudge (maybe a little treat too 😉).

Your loyal regulars though, they deserve to actually feel like the VIPs they are.

You don't need a massive list. You don't need hours. Just a few simple segments can completely shift how your emails feel.

I feel like now is more important than ever to be a vocal ally of my LGBTQIA+ colleagues, clients, customers, - everyone, in every part of life.

When things feel like they are shifting backwards I am proud to be able to control my own space and narrative and a big thing for me is working for clients who are wholly inclusive, twelve months a year, not just one.

In my corporate days I saw how it was co-opted, a tick box exercise - no more, we have power, we all have power and I refuse to leave anyone behind.

I took my daughter to an appointment last week and spent the whole time half-watching the door in case I could sneak a look at my phone.

She didn't notice. But I sure did.

I built this business so I could be present for her and somehow I'd created a version of it where I still felt like I was skiving off by just... being her mum.

Nobody had emailed or phoned me to say I was failing. I just felt like it.

Crazy the things we tell ourselves.

The goal was never to be available 24/7. The goal was actually the opposite. Sometimes I have to remind myself that logging off IS the work. I am a work in progress.

New month.

And I’m feeling quite proud of myself.

My brain is rebelling at the moment and I am feeling overwhelmed but even on the hard days, I’m still showing up. Still doing this thing.

Flexibility has carried me through more times than I can count. Plans change, energy dips, life happens. But I keep moving.

How's your store doing? There's still loads of time to make this year count if something needs shifting.

Here's what a quick mid-year review looks like 👇

➡️Pull up your analytics - what's your conversion rate doing compared to January?

➡️Identify your best seller - are you pushing it hard enough?

➡️Check your email stats - open rates, click rates, revenue attributed

➡️Walk through your own checkout - is anything clunky or outdated?

➡️Look at your store on your phone - would you buy from it?

Twenty minutes. That's all it takes to know exactly where to focus for the rest of 2026.
