I have one simple trick to help increase your Average Order Value 👇

Set a free shipping threshold.

Here's why it works: most shoppers will add ANOTHER item to their basket rather than pay for delivery. It's not a discount. It's not a hard sell. It's just giving people a reason to say "ooh, may as well look for one more thing."

No new products. No rebrand. required. Just a number on your website that nudges people over the line.

Get the threshold wrong and it costs you:
➡️Too low and you're giving shipping away for free
➡️Too high and nobody bothers.
➡️Get it right and it pays for itself every single time.

If you're running a shop and you're not doing this yet, is today the day to give it a try?

In my career I have audited a lot of Shopify stores. And almost every time, it's the same three things that are holding brilliant small businesses back.

Not the product. Not the pricing.

The website. And it's usually to do with the three items below:

1️⃣ Homepage - sell from the very top, not "welcome"

2️⃣ Menu - clear enough that I know what you sell in 3 seconds

3️⃣ Product page - needs details AND feels, make the choice easy

I am really passionate about small, sustainable shops and I don’t want to watch good businesses lose sales over fixable things!

Which one are you fixing first? Tell me below 👇

How’s the summer holidays going for everyone?

I have realised my daughter really does have limitless energy levels, I've replied to about 4 emails since Monday, and I keep opening my laptop and well... closing it again.

And I know some of you are exactly the same right now. Trying to run a business with a child (or children) at home and zero childcare, watching big brands post their perfectly scheduled summer campaigns while you're just trying to get through the day.

You're not behind though. You're not failing. You're doing two full-time jobs and still showing up. That IS the win right now.

Your emails can wait. Your website doesn't need to be perfect this week. It just needs to survive till September, same as the rest of us.

So if you're reading this one-handed while someone asks for a snack - I got you. We're in it together.

I am so tired of watching incredible small shops get drowned out every summer.

The algorithm doesn't care that you hand-pack every order. It doesn't care that you've poured your savings, your evenings, your whole self into this. It just serves up whatever's loudest and cheapest and that's rarely the small shops we want it to be.

So today I would quite like to do something about it:

I want this comment section absolutely full of small shops. Yours included.

📣 Drop your shop link.
✨ Tell us what you make.
🌸 Show us the thing you're proudest of right now.

I'm not asking people to "support small business" as a vague nice idea. I'm asking you to actually go and buy something or comment/share their content on social media.

Because that's the only algorithm that's ever really worked for small shops - us, choosing each other, on purpose.

It changes on the daily but I am not mad about it. I am learning so much about myself and my business. I am learning what I want and what I don’t want. I am learning what success looks like to me and celebrating all the small wins along the way!

The good times. The bad times. The learnings. The lessons. All have helped shape me into the business owner I am today.

But I am only getting started, there is so much more to come - doing it for the girl I used to be 💫
