Our Head of Projects and Professional Services, David Eatough is a dedicated volunteer with Shropshire • Staffordshire • Cheshire Blood Bikes, a 100% volunteer-run service providing free, urgent transportation of blood and medical supplies to NHS trusts across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.
David was part of the team behind the launch of a new blood bike, Imogen III, a BMW R 1300 RT funded entirely through fundraising, which took place at Uttoxeter Health Community Centre.
The bike was unveiled in memory of Imogen Evans, in the presence of her family, friends and the volunteer community. During the event, SSC Blood Bikes rider, Councillor Phil Hudson spoke about the support given to the Evans family when Imogen was so poorly, suffering from neuroblastoma. Over the past decade, three blood bikes have proudly carried her name.
The ribbon was cut by HM Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Professor Elizabeth Barnes CBE, with support from local representatives including Deputy Mayor of Uttoxeter, Councillor Aaron Mansfield, alongside Imogen’s mum, gran, cousin, friends and the wider Blood Bikes community.
It was also a special moment to see Imogen II in attendance, one of her final outings before retirement.
A story we’re proud to share, and a reminder of the difference individuals can make in their communities.
