Tegenungan Waterfall

In the tranquil, greater area of Ubud nestles the equally calming Tegenungan Waterfall. Tegenungan is considered the closest natural attraction of its kind that you can reach within a 30-minute drive from downtown Ubud, making it likely the most frequented waterfall in Bali.

Upon entering the waterfall area, you’ll find a parking lot and ticket booth; this area is also filled with art and souvenir shops as well as small stalls selling snacks and cold drinks. From here, it only takes several minutes to walk down to the waterfall. Because of its sheer size, Tegenungan is an impressive sight, its thundering waters gushing at huge volumes down to the basin below. A short walk takes you to the plunge pool, where you can dip in the cool mountain waters and even swim beneath the falling waters — though the force may not allow it!

An absolute gem in East Bali is Taman Ujung Water Palace 🌴🌴 Constructed by the late King of Karangasem, I Gusti Bagus Djelantik, it was built to welcome and serve visiting dignitaries and kings from neighbouring countries, besides for the pleasure of the king and his royal family. Loosely translated to “the garden on the far end”, the ground features manicured gardens, giant fish ponds and pavillions of Dutch-Balinese architectural blends. Whilst no longer in use by the royal family, the site conserves the history of the empire of Karangasem in East Bali. 📸 .gordie

A stunning shot of Lake Tamblingan, high on the hills of Munduk. One of the ‘Twin Lakes’ as they often referred, alongside Lake Buyan, it is a different side of Bali in this cool-aired atmosphere.

The Lakes of Bali are a source of water for the island’s agriculture, especially the rice fields, the source of irrigation for the subak system. It is Dewi Danu, the Goddess of the Lake who is thus prayed to for her constant providing of water that keeps the island’s flowing. 📸
