The time has come to say goodbye to ChaosTrend. Had some ups and downs, but some things you just have to let go and from next month ChaosTrend will be no more. 😥

This isn't the end because I love making video games and will be back with another company at some point in the future.

Thanks to everyone who has followed/played our games and special thanks to all the people who have helped us over the 10 years we have been going.

Quick update: there have been some issues with the website hosting and malware. Until I have purged the site and cleaned up all folders, do not enter the site as there may be a chance of malware causing problems.

I will make a new site and let you know when it is all finished and safe to visit.

Just a quick update; I am about to put the company dormant while I get my PhD done, so while I may do some work on the game, I won't be releasing anything soon.

Had a HD failiure and lost a bit of work, though nothing too important. Lost a few models that I saved to the desktop, but other than that I still have a good copy of the game and assets so bad, but not too bad. :)

Was not going to post this as I wanted to do more this weekend, but ended up doing not very much because of a sneaky bug. I only managed to block out the machine gun model, but it is really early and not worth a picture. Hope to have an early pic of the machine gun next week.

Haven't managed to do much on the game this weekend, though I have cleaned out the sprite code and have been working on the loadout ships and weapons. Next thing is to actually model the weapons...Next week. :)

Did a bit of work to the game today, started getting the 3D ships into the loadout screen. They just spin around at the moment and don't have any of the weapons attached, but the ship paint jobs are almost setup.

I won't blab on and try to be as to the point as I can.

I will be working towards a PhD for the next 3 years. This inevitably means that the amount of work I can put into SSTB will be limited. I will try my best to get some people on board to pick up the development of SSTB, but for the next 6-8 months I can't see much getting done.

I am happy and sad at the same time. I really want to finish this project, but I also want to get my doctorate. There is no reality in which I can finish the game and do a PhD by myself.

I will try to do as much as I can on the weekends, but this may not be every weekend. :(

Quick update;

Lots of work done on the 3D conversion and reworking of game assets. I still have a long way to go and there are a bunch of systems that are in the middle of being changed. So far I have the tractor beam effect and a new crate model in game, so at least that system is working with 3D. :)

So, I have come to the conclusion that a massive redesign and reworking of Space Ships & Tractor Beams is needed following the change to 3D. I was hoping to get all the game systems done and then add in the 3D conversion later, but the more I work on the game, the more I see that a bunch of things must change.

Some of the game features will change and the way the game is presented will also need to change, as the current UI style does not fit well with the 3D. It was always a WIP UI scheme, but I can't keep the current look now that models are in the game.

It will take a while to do and requires a large portion of the game code to change, meaning that the game will look and play a lot different once I have the first final pass done. So this is a heads up that there may not be much content in the next couple of weeks, but I will try to post pics when I get them. :)
