Enable Windows Defender Ransomware Protection

Many people do not realise that Windows 10 and 11 have brilliant built-in protection against ransomware, but it is often turned off by default. Taking thirty seconds to activate it can save you a massive headache later.

1. Click your Start button and type "Windows Security".

2. Open the app and click on "Virus & threat protection".

3. Scroll down to the bottom and click "Manage ransomware protection".
