The 2026 Annapolis Sailboat Show is a wrap! A fantastic 4 days of talking to prospects, learning from industry veterans and making those all important contacts which will enable our success in this market.

In this collection of photos from the show, Gordon Bease wants to highlight our customer Chris Wallace and his lovely wife Suzette. They have refitted a 2008 Leopard 42 and plan to circumnavigate the globe from their base in Belaire. When Chris was selecting his electronics for the refit, he carefully considered the choice of wind sensors, as he knows that on a sailboat, it is the most critical parameter to understand, and that the reliability and accuracy are paramount. Chris will work with our engineers to install our sensor and will provide valuable feedback to us during his travels.

We will provide a link though our FT Technologies / FT Wind Sensors channels. If anyone out there is sick and tired of their mechanical sensors breaking, being sat on by birds, or replacing bearings and doing other periodic (and emergency) maintenance, please get in contact with me. The World’s Toughest Wind Sensors are used on performance racing boats in the Imoca class and the Vendée Globe, and you can have the exact same, highly reliable and durable product on your own sailboat.

What does it take to measure wind inside a tornado-producing supercell thunderstorm 🌪️?

The Twister Fisters, a team of atmospheric researchers based in Colorado are doing exactly that. Driving their mesonet-equipped vehicles directly into the path of severe storms, they’re capturing rare wind data to better understand how tornadoes form.

At the heart of their instrumentation: the FT752 Acu-Res® ultrasonic wind sensor.

We’re proud to be featured in the April 2026 edition of Meteorological Technology International, where MTi editor Helen Norman tells the full story of how precise, continuous wind measurement is helping push the boundaries of severe weather science.

The question cold-climate operators ask -- "Why do FT Wind Sensors stay ice-free using less energy"?
In cold climates, wind sensor icing is not a minor inconvenience, it is a direct cause of data loss, downtime, and revenue loss. So why do some high-powered sensors still struggle to stay ice-free, while FT wind sensors manage it with lower installed power?

Find out why from our latest article here: https://fttechnologies.com/resources/why-ft-wind-sensors-stay-ice-free-using-less-energy
