Over the past 8 months I have been working with The Bell Hotel to consult, design, install and maintain a brand new network for their newly renovated 4* Hotel in Saxmundham.

Taking over in April, it only had a home grade router and two Wireless Access Points downstairs. Space is a premium in this Grade 2 listed, 1769 building. However, they now have a full Unifi network with multiple Wireless Access points and network points throughout the hotel to enable consistent and reliable connection to both customers and the day-to-day running of the hotel equipment. I provided desktops for the office and soon to be done reception area. The CCTV system has been upgraded and re-routed. I also configured the Hospitality TVs with branding and setup to make it easy to use for all customers.

I also worked closely with other businesses to deliver services to the hotel, such as the EPOS and Phones, which again I customised to bring it in line with the aesthetic and reach the level of standards to which Ashley and the team strive. This was a project I really enjoyed and I look forward to providing ongoing support.

The Bell Hotel opened their doors this week after a lot of hard work, please go and check them out - https://thebellhotelsaxmundham.co.uk/

If you own or are thinking of starting your own small business, please get in touch and see how I help provide the IT support you need.

❗️Be careful when leaving a device unattended❗️

This laptop decided it wanted to blow a chip whilst left on and powered. The owner smelt the burning plastic when coming back into the house and was able deal with it before anything worse could happened.

We were able to remove the drive and put it into a new laptop they wanted and get them on their way.

These situations can and do happen. Take care when dealing with electronics, especially when being left unattended or transported. Never put a laptop on a duvet/blanket or any surface it cannot get air flow. That is a sure way to start a fire 🔥

A Temporary network installed on location whilst a full building referb takes place. This allows both the customer and contractors Internet access and phone whilst the rest of the building is stripped out. This will then be installed properly during the rebuild

Rosie decided to cast a keen eye over the new Ubiquiti equipment for an up coming project. It's difficult to tell what she thinks with that poker face but so far it's been a cracking piece of kit.

Face shields visors are vital in providing a barrier of infection for our key workers, it comes in many forms and people have been finding ingenious ways to help us use the supplies we have more comfortably and effectively. Recent PPE donations include deliveries from:

Donations keep coming in and we are so thankful for your ongoing support.

Richard Langridge has fabricated not just face shield visors, but innovative extenders which allows them to be worn with more comfort over longer periods of time by our key workers.

Just a little update for you all.

The printing continues, we delivered some more visors to both Ipswich A&E (who have sent us some photos below) and West Suffolk Hospital too.

I also received a lovely card in the post today from an HCA at the hospital, thank you Laura!

Once again thank you all for your donations and help!

Stay safe,

Richard
