Fabio Wardley is the WBO Heavyweight Champion of the World. He's now a Halo Athlete.

Just 10 years after picking up boxing in Ipswich, Fabio has risen to the status of World Heavyweight Champion, preparing to defend his WBO belt against Daniel Dubois on 9th May and will do so with Halo and the whole county in his corner.

Fabio joins Ryan Meikle (Darts), Hannah Turner (Muay Thai) and Will Ellard (Swimming) on our athlete scheme designed to support the best sporting talent coming out of Suffolk.

We couldn't be more proud to back him, and to have a world champion flying the flag for Suffolk.

Welcome to the team, Fabio.

Halo are committed to continuing to lead our UK and international growth from Suffolk, and this new facility will provide us with improved opportunities for recruitment, growth, and collaboration with the local community.

Introducing our newest Halo Athlete: William Ellard

Will is a Paralympic gold medallist from Beccles, Suffolk, who competes in the S14 classification. Still only 19, he’s one of Britain’s brightest para‑swimming stars.

After winning two golds (including a world‑record 200m freestyle) and a silver at Paris 2024, he was shortlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year, earning recognition alongside Sky Brown and Luke Littler.

He was awarded an MBE in the 2025 New Year Honours for services to swimming. Already a role model in the region, we’re thrilled to welcome Will into the Halo Athlete programme!

Watch Will’s incredible world-record swim in the 200m freestyle at the Paris 2024 Paralympics below.

We’ve just wrapped up a brilliant few days with 12 interns, who joined us for a packed schedule of visits, workshops and challenges.

From a trip to Portman Road with our partners at Ipswich Town FC, to conversations about leadership and culture with our CEO and shadowing some of our recent graduates, they got a real insight into what working at Halo is all about.

We were blown away by the level of knowledge, drive and ideas on display throughout.

Next, we'll be selecting six of them for university sponsorship, fully funding their tuition fees, plus a job offer when they graduate. But every intern is still in the running for future opportunities at Halo.

Thank you to everyone who joined!

Introducing our first Halo Athlete: Ryan Meikle 🎯

Born in Leiston, Suffolk, Ryan has been on the PDC Tour since 2016, going pro at just 19.

He recently qualified for the 2025 World Darts Championship, where he beat Fallon Sherrock in the first round before pushing eventual champion Luke Littler in the second. He’s now aiming to qualify again this December.

Nicknamed The Barber, Ryan still cuts hair in Saxmundham when he’s not competing - and he’s a proud Ipswich Town season ticket holder.

We’re proud to back local talent and excited to support Ryan as he takes Suffolk to the world stage.

More Halo Athletes coming soon 👀
