Up to 60 enormous turbines taller than the Eiffel tower
Each rotor up to 280 m wide
The closest turbine would be only 6km from shore
The project is majority owned by Northland Power, a Canadian company, with the electricity generated going into the national grid, this does not guarantee cheaper bills for local households.
As someone born and raised here, who has built a business in Stornoway, I find it incredibly frustrating that a project of this scale could be pushed forward without properly considering the people who actually live and work on the island.
There’s no clear evidence on:
The impact on tourism (one of Lewis’s biggest industries)
The strain on housing, roads, and local services
The real LONG-TERM benefits for local people
Environmental risks, wildlife impact, and turbine disposal
This will permanently change the landscape and character of Lewis.
If you care about the island, please take the time to submit an objection through this very simple link. It matters a lot.

The sheer scale of devastation to the island is not worth the benefits. please please please don't let this happen to Lewis 💔
