Tech Tuesday is back!
We are now on Week 5 of Tech Tuesday, where we give you tips and tricks for tech and break down some common myths about tech.
This week, we will be answering the question: Does deleting data from your hard drive delete it forever?
In short, no. When you delete a file, your computer marks the empty space on your hard drive as 'free space'. The free space can then be overwritten by other data. However, until it is actually overwritten, the original data can still be recovered. Experts can use programs and tools to recover the original data as long as it hasn't been overwritten.
If you want to delete a file for good, programs like File Shredder automatically overwrite the data to ensure the original data is deleted.
