Hey hey!
Alex and I were honoured to be invited to the House of Commons for ISPA UKโs Parliamentary drinks reception.
We first got to know ISPA UK through their awards, when we were shortlisted in an award sponsored by last year. So it was lovely to reconnect and spend an afternoon meeting people from across the UKโs broadband and internet industry.
We headed down on the train, and walking into Parliament was a pretty special experience in itself. But the conversations we had once we were there were what really made the day.
One thing we kept coming back to was the importance of education.
Thereโs so much work going into delivering faster broadband and bringing gigabit connections to communities across the country (which is great!). That infrastructure creates huge opportunities. But what happens at the other end of that connection?
Does the person using it have the skills and confidence to make the most of it? Do they know where to start, or where to turn for support?
Thatโs where we see Wavemaker playing an important role.
Through our award winning DigitAll learning platform and our work around digital skills, we want to help people build that confidence, whether thatโs accessing services, exploring opportunities, learning something new or simply feeling more comfortable online.
For us, connectivity and education go hand in hand. Giving people access is a vital step, and helping them use it confidently is what brings those opportunities to life.
A big thank you to ISPA UK for inviting us, and to everyone we spoke with. It was a great day, with plenty of ideas to bring back to our work at Wavemaker.
