Midlands 3D is now certified to ISO 14001:2015

TÜV UK Limited, a UKAS-accredited body, audited our environmental management system and certified the whole operation, from the first prototype a customer sends us through full production runs on our machines in Stone, Staffordshire.

We've built sustainability into this business for years: recycled filament through Filamentive, carbon offsetting through Ecologi since 2022. This certificate means an independent auditor checks that system, on a schedule TÜV UK sets through to 2029.

Additive manufacturing has argued for years that it's a lower-waste way to manufacture. Certification like this backs that argument with evidence a customer's procurement team can verify.

Traceability at Midlands 3D

For customers in regulated sectors, our industrial 3D printing service is built around a documented, auditable process from first to last.

Material intake 👉 NFC-tagged spools are registered and logged automatically on arrival into the Materials Management System, establishing the chain of custody from the moment material enters our facility.

Drying and conditioning 👉 Automated drying chambers maintain precise humidity and temperature control.

Print process monitoring 👉 Real-time system monitoring, sensor-based feedback loops, and automated diagnostics run throughout every build identifying potential process deviations before or during printing.

Post-processing 👉Post-annealing for PEEK and PAEK parts via pre-programmed recrystallisation cycles, directly integrated into the Materials Management System.

Responding to a sharp increase in demand, we've now enabled Ultrasint TPU on our MJF printers. This enables us to deliver larger TPU parts, a much faster throughput for larger volume orders and enhances the performance of vapour smoothing of flexible TPU parts. 👍

Ultrasint TPU 88A printed via MJF delivers flexible parts with excellent shock absorption, energy return, thermal protection and tear resistance. Its isotropic mechanical performance and powder based design freedom make it ideal for medical devices, footwear, protective equipment and industrial grippers, all with strong chemical resistance for demanding environments.

We were so grateful to all those people that braved the fierce heat (sound familiar?!) to join us and to celebrate this milestone in our journey with us.

We still love to open our doors and give tours of the facility, though now we're fully operational this is by appointment only to ensure the confidentiality of any sensitive work that may otherwise be in progress.

Thanks also to the Lyndsey Vickers 🎥 and the MTD CNC team for capturing the day with some great video and the support of Additive Manufacturing (AM) Solutions - 3D Printing and Machinery Ltd in helping make the day a success. 👏

The first in the UK, we're now live and accepting orders with Additive Manufacturing (AM) Solutions - 3D Printing Industrial Filament Printing system.
