🚧Water pipe replacement work on Ford Green Road – an update 💧
We know the water pipe works across Stoke‑on‑Trent have been going on for some time now, and we understand how frustrating and tiring that can be. Thank you to everyone who’s shared feedback with us — we’ve listened, and we want to explain what’s planned next and what this means for you.
From Monday 15 June, we’ll be starting the next phase of work on Ford Green Road, replacing older water pipes to help protect the local water supply for the future. We’ll be working from outside number 271 to the junction with Kirk Street, and this section is expected to take around 12 weeks to complete.
We know one of the biggest concerns is disruption. To help reduce the impact, this phase will be completed in smaller sections, so the works move along the road rather than affecting everything at once. A map below shows where and when we’ll be working.
đźš— Traffic changes
A one‑way system will be in place, allowing traffic to travel from Norton towards Smallthorne
Traffic won’t be able to travel from Smallthorne towards Norton
Please follow the signed diversion route via High Lane, Biddulph Road, Oxford Road and Chell Head Road
Diversion routes use suitable roads that can safely handle all types of vehicles
Some side streets may be temporarily affected while we work at junctions
Multiway traffic lights will be used for approximately one week – between Croft Court and Kinver Street
Businesses will remain open as usual
🏠Access & parking
We’ll do everything we can to maintain access while we work. If you have specific access or accessibility needs, please let us know so we can help. Keeping the work area clear of parked vehicles will also help us finish sooner and move on more quickly.
🔔 If your water supply ever needs to be temporarily switched off, we’ll always give at least 48 hours’ notice, and any interruption will be kept as short as possible.
Thank you again for your patience — our teams and contractor are doing everything they can to keep disruption to a minimum and everyone safe.
