Ask: which of our processes assume legitimacy rather than check for it?

Where do we skip verification because we recognise the name or the pattern?

Those gaps are worth knowing about before someone else finds them.

We're pleased to announce that Deji Osinowo has also been awarded Associate Cyber Security Professional (ACSP) status through the UK Cyber Security Council.

When we shared Raymond's recent achievement, we spoke about the growing professionalisation of the cybersecurity industry and the importance of recognised standards.

Today, we're celebrating another member of the team reaching that same benchmark.

Those who have worked with Deji will already know the level of professionalism, dedication and expertise he brings to every project. This recognition reflects the standards he demonstrates day in, day out.

Professional registration is about more than letters after a name.

It is about accountability, competence and a commitment to continual development.

Congratulations, Deji. A thoroughly deserved achievement.

A familiar name. A routine request.

A process followed without a second look because that's how it's always been done.

Nothing raises a flag. That's exactly what makes it work.

The most effective attacks don't look like attacks.

Access trusted past its expiry date.

A request processed without verification because it looked familiar.

A system assumed to be fine because it had always been fine.

The technology enables the problem.

Trust is what lets it spread unchallenged.

Raymond Setchfield has been awarded Associate Cyber Security Professional (ACSP) status by the UK Cyber Security Council.

Many professions have recognised standards and professional registration.

Surveyors.
Accountants.
Engineers.

Cybersecurity is now following the same path.

The UK Cyber Security Council was established to develop professional standards across the cybersecurity sector and ACSP is the first step in that professional framework.

For our clients, it provides reassurance that the advice and guidance they receive is backed by recognised professional standards, not just claims on a website.

We’re proud to see Raymond achieve this recognition and continue investing in professional development.

Ask: When did we last run a simulated incident?
Who was involved?
What changed afterwards?

If the answer is never β€” or "we reviewed the plan" β€” the first real incident will be the test.

That's an expensive way to find out what doesn't work.

Not technology.

Not process.

Coordination.

Messages go to the wrong people.

Roles overlap.

Decisions stall because nobody's sure who owns them.

Not because the team is incompetent β€” because the system was never rehearsed when things were actually hard.

Most systems look fine when nothing is wrong.

That's not proof they work. Security gets tested when something is already going wrong β€” when decisions are urgent, communication is unclear, and people are under stress.

A system that hasn't been rehearsed under those conditions hasn't really been tested at all.

Ask: if we reviewed activity from the last 30 days right now, what would surprise us?

If the answer is "we don't know" β€” that's your answer.

You don't have visibility.

You have the assumption of it.
