On the bench today in the Tonearm Repair Shop we have the lovely GB Tools Zeta Tonearm, this particular example was in for a rewire, tweak of the bearings and a loose armrest, all cleaned up and ready to go back to our client for many more years of faithful service.

I have a few of these excellent Zavfino The Cove Tonearm cables, 2 RCA plus Earth, straight 5 pin din (not really suitable for LP12 but fine if you have room under your TT, gyrodeck as an example) 1.2m length.

These cable is excellent and I couldn’t build them to that wuality for £100, never mind what I’m asking.

Great album, all recorded at home by the extremely talented Mr Mikael Åkerfeldt, he produced this during lockdown as a way to keep money rolling in for the band Opeth. I haven’t seen the series, but I’m lead to believe it’s not an easy watch.

This is the second time this has happened, 1st time it was Fedex, today Amazon.

Arrived to find cardboard box on my doorstep, just left in plain sight, luckily my premises are on a farm, but I have a residential neighbours all around, or he shouldn’t have left it.

Inside the sodden package, lying there all weekend probably, was a vinyl record, a gift from a customer, the box about disintegrated when I picked it up, thankfully the record was well shrink wrapped. I just can’t believe the stupidity and lack of common sense from folks these days.

The little big standmount.

Recently been enjoying the wonderful new QLN One from QLN Loudspeakers. Here in the premium Gloss Walnut finish with their dedicated stands. Whilst they resemble their stablemates the Prestige 1, the One’s are more traditional with their doped paper mid bass driver. There must be a serious crossover in these babies as they are fast, open and expressive, the paper based driver helps in that respect too, in fact given their size I think they do everything right, and nothing wrong, in many systems these could happily supplant a pair of small floorstanders, they have similar levels of bass, but it’s very fluid and lacks any boxiness often found in smaller floorstanders, come in and have a listen, these are happy with 20 watts plus, although I have been playing them with the enchanting Ayon Spirit SE single ended KT88, pure magic, especially with a glass or two of the amber nectar.

5+2=Sonic Bliss

Pairing the beguiling Spirit V from Ayon with the impressive Elba 2 from Italy’s Rosso Fiorentino, you would think they have been made for each other, the customer came in to demo and amp, and now wants to change his speakers too, this easily embarrasses amplifier and speaker combos costing many times the retail on this couple.
