Dear friends and clients,

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Vince passed away peacefully during the night.

Vince was not only a valued colleague and trusted professional but also a dear friend to many of us. His warmth, generosity, and dedication touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

We ask for your understanding and patience as we process this loss and make the necessary arrangements in the coming days. Further details will be shared once they are available.

What should I do if I get a scam call?

Don't reveal personal details. Never give out personal or financial information (such as your bank account details or your PIN) over the phone, even if the caller claims to be from your bank.

Hang up. If you feel harassed or intimidated, or if the caller talks over you without giving you a chance to speak, end the call. It may feel rude to hang up on someone, but you have the right not to be pressurised into anything.

Ring the organisation. If you're unsure whether the caller is genuine, you can always ring the company or bank they claim to be from. Make sure you find the number yourself and don’t use the one provided by the caller.

Don't be rushed. Scammers will try to rush you into providing your personal details. They may say they have a time-limited offer or claim your bank account is at risk if you don't give them the information they need right away.

Do not allow any remote access to your PC, they may ask you to go to a website to enable Remote Access to your PC. This will give them complete control of your PC & it will be compromised.

If you feel the call is genuine then ask them to contact me, they will not be concerned if it’s a real issue that needs addressing:

How did a hacker get my password?
Hackers use several techniques to get your account password.

Malware – If you install a program from the Internet that isn't from a trusted publisher (for example, when you download a new screen saver, toolbar, or other software from an untrustworthy source), it might include malware that logs your keystrokes or searches your PC for saved passwords.

Attacking Internet sites – If hackers break into an Internet site and steal account information, they can check it against other sites to see if you've re-used your password.

Phishing – Hackers often send emails or text messages that appear to come from an official source to trick people into sending their account data.

Scammers are constantly finding new ways to trick people and online scams are changing all the time. It’s not unusual for people to get tricked, so don’t suffer in silence and don’t be embarrassed to report it.
If you’re worried that your computer isn't working properly or think that it may have a virus, then talk to a computer technician.
If you've been scammed, report it to the police. You can also report the crime to Action Fraud. This is a good idea because the information you give to Action Fraud can help track down the scammer. You can either:
Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 (lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am-8pm).
