The highest railway bridge in the world. 👀
Spanning the Chenab River, in a remote and mountainous part of northern India, at a height of 359m the Chenab Bridge would clear the Eiffel Tower by 30m. It also boasts the longest broad-gauge railway span and the longest arch for rail traffic at 467m. The entire length of the arch bridge is 1,315m.
The Ministry of Railways used OpenRail and iTwin Capture to build the bridge in extreme engineering conditions. During construction, the project team used drones to develop a reality model to plan and monitor project resources and identify potential issues. It's one of India's first railway bridge projects to adopt the latest technology in traditional survey and construction work. This approach is estimated to have reduced construction inspection time by around 80%.
