Throwing it back to a massive internal branding project we did for Midland Heart in 2019.

When they launched their Making What Matters Brilliant initiative, they wanted to truly inspire their team. We started by creating a fresh campaign logo and a custom set of icons. Then we took that design and ran with it.

We transformed their corporate plan from a standard document into a fully immersive visual experience. The new branding flowed straight onto the walls of their Birmingham head office and across all their printed merch and giveaways.

Midland Heart provides safe and affordable homes for over 70,000 people across the region. It was a privilege to help them create a vibrant, engaging workspace for the staff who make that happen every single day.

ARCHIVE REWIND....

This was a cracking logo and brand identity project to work on – a new brand of craft b**r, yum! We partnered with Kraters to do a ‘dig deep’ session looking at vision, mission, values, personality, tone of voice and audience persona. Once the brand strategy was in place we created a new logo, brand identity and packaging.

With it being a craft b**r, it was important to establish a handcrafted look and feel so our concepts were developed with a more rustic feel and hand stamped typography. We also advised on packaging material which was corrugated with Kraft outer layer for print quality.

😭 Things that make designers cry…

Luckily, crying like a baby is a pretty rare occurrence for us designers.

We do have our little things, though…

❌ 7 different brand fonts
❌ A logo living happily in a Word document
❌ “Can you make it pop?”
❌ That one slightly different shade of green

We joke, but there is a method to our madness. 😅

Consistency helps a brand feel recognisable, professional and trustworthy — whether it’s on a report, presentation, website or social post.

So if your brand files are causing a few designer feelings… don’t worry.

We promise not to cry. Probably. 😂

It’s only a colour…

“Can we make it a little more blue?”
“What about a brighter green?”
“Could we try something completely different?”
“I don’t know… I just don’t like that one.”

Meanwhile, the designer:

We promise we’re not being difficult. 😂
Because colour isn’t just colour.
It’s part of your brand.
It sets the tone.
It helps people recognise you.

So yes…

We care about that particular shade of blue.
Probably more than most people do. 😏

And if we’re gently steering you back towards the brand palette?
There’s probably a reason.
