We've still got places available at our Seminar 'How to build an awesome business (and have it ready for sale if you want)'.

But you are probably wondering why is an IT company running a business seminar and not a tech one?

Simples really:

1. We run a business, which is an IT company, and we had to learn how to run it. We made lots of mistakes over the years until we started using EOS. Now - we make less mistakes, but can act quickly when we spot them! That's why we invited Brandon and Andrew to go through how they help.

2. M&A - The M&A market for IT companies has been running hot over the last few years. Going forwards we want to know what a good business needs to have in place to make it attractive to buy. So if the option comes up to merge or acquire one, we know what good looks like. Rob's view on this really helps get a good perspective.

3. Networking - A great opportunity for business leaders and owners to get together and make new connections.

What's your process for managing your Cyber Security at work?

Typical answers that I've received:

1. Our IT company handles that (i.e I don't know)
2. We've got Anti-Virus
3. We've done staff cyber security awareness training

A good answer would be:

'We annually check our systems align with a known Cyber Security standard like Cyber Essentials'

A better answer would be:

'We annually check our systems align with a known Cyber Security standard like Cyber Essential Plus, which includes pe*******on testing and vulnerability scanning'

The best answer would be:

'We have Cyber Essentials Plus and we have someone who regularly checks for vulnerabilities and mitigates any risks identified. Those risks are documented and appropriate plans put in place. We discuss our posture at board Level and carry out incident response planning.'

Delegating your IT Cyber Security to your IT company/person, without checking the situation, is essentially abdicating responsibility.

If IT is critical to your business then give Cyber Security the level of attention it deserves.

Cyber security is not just an IT issue but a business issue.

A breach in security can have significant financial and reputational impacts.

Make sure to develop a comprehensive cyber security strategy that includes regular risk assessments, employee training, and incident response plans.

By taking proactive measures, you can protect your SMB from cyber threats and ensure your business continuity.

Funny comment yesterday in a meeting with a company owner.

I asked him what would the impact on his business be if his system was breached and it took 2 weeks work (typical downtime after a significant cyber-event) to get it back up and running.

He said 'The impact would be me, sitting on the beach, in the Caribbean, sipping on a Strawberry daquiri!'

Funny how minds work.... 😀

Don't let your small business fall victim to cyber attacks.

Stay vigilant and aware of potential threats, such as phishing scams and malware.

Train your employees on cyber security best practices and regularly update your software to protect against vulnerabilities.

Remember, prevention is always better than cure.

Hope is not a strategy
