Over the next few weeks it’s likely we will start to see some level of relaxation in lockdown measures allowing more construction sites and businesses to resume operations, although at a reduced capacity.

This creates a number of challenges that need to be addressed to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of both employees and the general public:

- Areas where social distancing is not possible
- Hotspots where it’s likely people will gather, or congestion zones
- Areas where enhanced cleaning would be required, such as biometric entry systems, door handles, canteens, welfare areas etc

It’s important to identify, record and resolve issues around the workplace to help ensure with the current government guidelines. By capturing this it clearly demonstrates that as business owners, managers and employees we are taking the issue seriously and doing everything that’s reasonably practical to keep people safe and well.

Construction sites face greater difficulties due to the constantly changing nature of the works being carried out, as projects progress, from groundworks through to final fit-out and completion. With ongoing measures, what we saw as "normal" life is unlikely return anytime soon, so to succeed, we are going to have to quickly adapt to a new way of working to allow us to meet client programmes and targets.
