Heres what I like to call a 'Public Service announcement' (but in doing so, it probs reveals something about my age)
The online Safety Act, and the proposed 'Digital ID' are very much linked, and part of a overall system of control.
If youre happy with being controlled, you still need to read on.
Just as a side note, they are already pushing thru kids ID in the house of lords... so this is NOT something you can 'fix later' (kids, eventually become adults)
Putting 'control' aside (but not forgetting that once in place, they can 'switch you off' at the drop of a hat, and knowing this lot, it would be for hurty words on facebook)....anyhoo.....
Data: Look its dead simple. There isnt a computer system on the planet that hasnt been hacked at some point in its life. The NHS for instance get regular hits that go unmentioned. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BULLET PROOF COMPUTER SYSTEM.
I'll repeat that, 'There is no such thig as a "hackproof" computer system.
With that in mind I give you the first of 3 guarantees;
1. It will be hacked, your ID will be stolen.
Moving on.....
When any major system get breached, by one mechanism or another, you are usually warned about it and advised to change your password.
What exactly are you going to change when your face has been stolen? a 3d model of your face?
Now imagine that sane 3d model, in the hands of AI.
taking it to an extreme, now imagine the following exerpt from your police interview;
"I wan't there"
'Yes you were, here's the video to prove it.'
This is not as far fetched as it seems, its a real prospect.
AI now, is unbelievable ...actually scratch that, its BELIEVABLE!
Guarantee;
2 Lawlesness will eventually prevail.
Without any restrictions on AI (there can never be any, I can set up an AI 'brain' in my spare bedroom) - crime becomes extremely easy to commit when you can frame someone else for it.
But we, as regular (OK, you, theres nothing regular about me, Im special) people going about our daily.....etc..... are not going to be the only people at risk.
The whole Governement will be at risk.
We see it now in the form of memes, where world leaders are seen to be doing rediculous things.
If that gets fine tuned, and incorperates biometric data, 3d models of faces etc..... the posibilities are endless.... but the targets, are for more influential.
"Yeah but I can spot AI a mile off" --- that might be true.... but 50% of the british public isnt quite as switched on as you.
Guarantee:
3: it will bring down governments, and also jeopardise the whole concept of centralised government.
This could be the Terminator style ending we luaghed about.
What you should do:
1. Do not give your ID to any website online. (I'll tell you how in a second)
2. Write to your MP - - very important.
3, buy a 5g capable mobile phone,, that is NOT a smart phone, and keep it in a drawer, youre going to need it.
4. Wherever possible, get yourself a starlink account for your internet services. (Ive got one, and its brilliant... fast and super reliable.... no link, Im not selling it)
4 is ultimately what will save you, because it can never be govenment controlled.
Back to security ---- so at the minute youre handig over your ID left right and centre. STOP!!!!
'but Ive got a VPN' ----- I dont care, unless its MullvadVPN, its pointless. (no link, Im not selling it) - so that 10 quid a month is only providing you with the illusion of security. Go find Mullvad.
Belt and braces: Get an old harware firewall (watchguard firebox is ideal) for less than £60, run wireguard on it, and run your whole house thru it. --- You will never be asked for ID for anything.
Get Mullvad VPN on your mobile and run it always.
Anyone wanting assistance with the watchguard firebox thing btw..... Hit us up. (no link.... but I AM selling it)
