New switchers just landed at Protec

We've added the Roland V-160HD and V-80HD switchers to our hire stock — proper hybrid-event switchers that handle live vision and livestream in one box.

The V-160HD: Inputs include 8 SDI + 8 HDMI, four with scalers, a 40-channel audio mixer, control of up to 16 PTZ cameras, and USB-C straight out to Zoom, Teams or YouTube. A full multi-camera show from a single operator.

The V-80HD is its compact sibling — Inputs include 4 SDI + 4 HDMI, two with scalers, a 28-channel mixer, 8 PTZ control and USB-C streaming, with a built-in screen so you can run it without a computer. Perfect for smaller rigs and tighter spaces.

👋 Meet Tom Bramwell

At Protec Events, our team is the difference between a good event and a flawless one — so we'd like you to meet the people behind the work.

Tom is our Head of Scenic, heading up the set and stage department. He keeps the whole department running smoothly — from stock levels of coverings to making sure every piece of staging and furniture is top quality — so that every part of our scenic delivery is flawless on site. Scenic is the part everyone sees: it's what your audience looks at and what your speakers present in front of, so it has to be perfect, every single time. Tom makes sure it is.

Tom is one of the team supporting 500+ events a year for clients across the UK and Europe. Stay tuned — we'll be introducing more of the faces and the expertise behind Protec.

A few weeks ago we posted regarding how Protec Events helped Hilton Birmingham Metropole celebrate its 50th birthday and showcase this iconic venue. We now have a highlights video that we would like to share.

Stage and set build, LED, lighting, sound, full onscreen content production and rigging came from our team, wrapped around standout scenic design, aerial and speciality performers, and live music delivered flawlessly by the new collaboration of official suppliers. We’re proud to be the technical production and AV partner of Hilton Birmingham Metropole, alongside Eventologists, Apollo Music (live music and entertainment) and Showstoppers Events (live performance).

👋 Meet Matt Poller

At Protec Events, our team is the difference between a good event and a flawless one — so we'd like you to meet the people behind the work.

Matt is our Hire Manager, with over 30 years in the industry — when it comes to hire, what he doesn't know isn't worth knowing. He handles the day-to-day hire of equipment to the venues we look after, cross-hire for other AV companies, and delivers events too. Matt has a rare gift: he's everyone's friend — warm, approachable and always up for a laugh — while being completely on his game, a consummate professional who never drops the ball. He's built a reputation for being 100% dedicated to his clients, and he's held in the highest regard by customers and the Protec management team alike.

This week Protec Events helped Hilton Birmingham Metropole celebrate its 50th birthday and showcase this iconic venue.

Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, the night spanned two of the hotel's suites. Guests gathered for drinks in the King's Suite, then travelled down the rabbit hole — a purpose-built doorway and walkway between the rooms — into the Palace Suite for the main event, before the after party welcomed them back through. Two rooms, one immersive world.

Stage and set build, LED, lighting, sound, full onscreen content production and rigging came from our team, wrapped around standout scenic design, aerial and speciality performers, and live music delivered flawlessly by the new collaboration of official suppliers.

It was the first showcase of the venue's new official supplier collective — a hand-picked group delivering every part of an event, together. We're proud to be the technical production and AV partner, alongside Eventologists (creative event design), Apollo Music (live music and entertainment) and Showstoppers Events (live performance).
