SSDs at pre-price increase rises - currently in stock!

As many may have noticed along with ram prices increasing the last few months, SSD prices have started to as well and in many cases have now doubled in price.

BUT, we still have a small stock of 2.5" and M.2 SSD drives in stock still at the pre-increase prices available between 120gb and 1tb in capacity. Once these are gone at these prices they are gone.

So if you're thinking of upgrading your storage then we recommend doing so sooner rather than later, otherwise prices are still likely to rise!

Please contact us for stock and prices.

Given that the price of ram is currently at an all-time high (thank AI datacentres for taking it all), and has pushed up the prices of machines don't let that put you off buying if you need one.

On most machines more ram can always be added at a later date if needed and although a lot of mid-range machines are now coming out with 16gb as standard, if your needs are simple (web browsing/office) etc then a machine with 8gb is plenty in many cases and often a lot cheaper.

Although the requirements for Win 11 state 4gb minimum, we would always recommend at least 8gb. 8gb would manage the tasks of most users better than you think!

Many people may have or have not realised there is currently a global shortage of ram which over the last few months has pushed up the price of ram massively.

This has also started to have a knock on effect with SSDs and graphics card prices too which also use ram, although these prices have not been affected quite as much.

Unfortunately it appears global prices are unlikely to come down for a few months yet and could possibly rise further over the first part of 2026.

This is obviously something that is out of our hands however our advice is if you were thinking of upgrading any of these components then we suggest you do so sooner rather than later before prices increase further.

A common question we get asked is why don't customers get wifi speeds around the house that match their internet package's speed that they signed up for?

The answer is simple...don't always expect to as there are many factors!

Although you may have signed up for 1gb fibre for example, your internet provider is only responsible for getting 1gb into your premises, it is not responsible for getting it all around your property.

Why you are not getting that full speed in all areas has many reasons including:

- What your device capabilities are i.e. wifi standards, network port speeds.
- The size of your property and interference within. i.e walls, other devices, distances.
- If you are using access points, wifi extenders, mesh devices etc, it all depends on the wifi capabilities of those.
- Amount of devices and traffic on your network.

What about "whole home wifi" offered by internet providers?

These do work in many cases in helping coverage provided they are located in suitable positions, but not all cases as each node that the signal passes through on to the next means that the wifi speed will be degraded each node that it goes through. So if you have a very large property and it has to pass through 3 or 4 nodes to get to the far end of the property, by then the speed may have decreased very noticeably.

Quite simply, in cases like this more does not always mean better - it can often mean worse!

Furthermore, to provide this "whole home wifi" service internet providers often charge a set fee each month for equipment that you have to give back at the end of your contract and you then have to start all over again if you ever change provider.

It's therefore economical to invest in a wifi infrastructure that you will own and can then still use if you ever change provider.

So if you're struggling with internet signal and speeds around your property then give us a shout and we can advise as we are an official TP-Link partner.
