Samsung tablet charging ports are notorious for developing faults. The solder joints around the port can be relatively weak, and after enough plugging, unplugging and movement, the connection can eventually fail.

This one had stopped charging properly, so we removed the faulty charging port assembly and replaced it with a new one.

Back on charge and working as it should. 🔋

If you notice your screen or back cover starting to lift away from the frame, don’t force it back down or just ignore it. Get the battery checked!

That’s exactly what had happened with this Google Pixel. The battery had started to swell, expanding inside the phone and slowly pushing the screen away from the frame.

Luckily this one was caught before it caused any further damage. We replaced the swollen battery, secured everything back together and got it back up and running.

A bit of micro-soldering for Oli this morning.
A common fault we’re seeing on iPad Pro models is a damaged charging port. Prolonged use with the damaged port can eventually cause damage to the charging IC too, meaning that also needs replacing.
When that happens, we get the board under the microscope, remove the failed chip and replace it with a new one.

Here’s the reason you shouldn’t use your iPad in the bath…

Even if you don’t dunk it in, condensation will get into the usb c port, corroding it until it doesn’t work.

To replace it, you have to rip everything out of the iPad and solder a new charging port into place.
