How To Connect Multiple Screens To Your Desktop Or Laptop

Check the Manual of your machine to see how many screens it can support out of the box.

Know your connectors.

From old to new the common video connectors or ports are -

VGA
DVI
HDMI
Display Port

The more modern the port the greater the maximum resolution on the screen.

You can get adaptors to change between all the different port types.



You can also get USB to video adaptors but these have lower resolution and also need special software or drivers to be installed.

Many laptops and desktops have two or three different ports and support 2 or 3 screens out of the box. You just have to have the right cables and adaptors.

The most reliable way to connect three or four screens is to use a dedicated video card. Some have two, three or four different connectors. Some have multiple connectors of the same type.

Some video cards are so big that they only fit in full-size desktop PCs.

You cannot usually add a graphics card to a laptop.
Make sure you update the drivers for the hardware that you have chosen.
You set up the screens with a right click on the computer desktop and choose display settings.
You can choose to extend the screens to make one big screen and choose the orientation landscape or portrait.
