The 2012-2017 MacBook Air design still holds up well today. A thin, light, beautifully crafted laptop. This particular one has been specially sourced for a client who loved her 2012 so much she wanted to replace it with the same style but newer model. These are better built than the 2018 models that replaced them, with a far nicer keyboard, upgradable storage, more ports and a SD card reader.

The customer wasn’t fussed about the older operating system as her 2012 was on an even older version. Priced at under £200, these are a bargain for light daily tasks.

They can even be upgraded to a newer operating system with a reliable work around from the development community. If you’re after a low cost reliable laptop, please get in touch.

Have an old desktop or laptop you don’t know what to do with? It may be a candidate for a ‘Hackintosh’ (installing Mac OS on a non-Apple device). It’s been quiet the latter part of this week, possibly in the lead up to half-term. So, I’ve spent some time resurrecting old hardware. This is a 10 year old HP business desktop, fantastic quality, easy to service, 10 USB ports, dual display and more.

It does not support Windows 11, at least officially. So take it to the tip or give it a new lease of life?

Of course I could have installed Linux on it which is a very good option and free too. However, I wanted to experiment with the set up process and see how well an old machine would run on Mac OS.

If you have an old desktop or laptop that doesn’t support later Windows or Mac operating systems, get in touch for some advice.

The next project is building a Mac OS desktop with spare parts and a £100 budget.

Fine Tuned Tech only sells phones with minimum 85% battery health. Buying a phone online generally only guarantees 80% battery health, which is borderline for a battery replacement which costs £85-£109 for an iPhone. So, you may be paying less for the handset but might need an expensive battery replacement in weeks or months. If you’d like the peace of mind that the battery will last several months before needing replacement, then contact us about refurbished handsets.
