Retirement of 3D Secure v1 on 15th October 2022

This is a reminder that on the 15th of October 2022, 3D Secure v1 will be retired by the Card Brand Schemes. You must be using 3D Secure v2 before that date otherwise you will see payment declines.

This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to take action, as you are likely already using 3D Secure v2.

Please take the time to read our PSD2 webpage (https://www.sellerdeck.co.uk/psd2/) so that you fully understand your position.

RRP in Swift - A Bug and Two Mods

Sellerdeck Swift Template has a nifty RRP script built into the Dynamic Price Layout (Product Page) and the Standard Tax Inclusive and Standard Tax Exclusive Price Layouts {Product Summary).

There is a bug (MS_SMDEV-4056) that needs correcting which in certain Component combinations will display the RRP as 1.0, or 2.0 or 3.0.

This is what is currently at around line 75 in the Dynamic Price layout:
Code:
echo "RRP £".number_format((float)$rrpFormatted , 2, '.', '')." You Save ".$savepercent."%";

You need to change this to:
Code:
echo "RRP £".$rrpFormatted." You Save ".$savepercent."%";

After a recent Windows update customers are reporting being unable to open their Sellerdeck software.

Error: 'The operating system is not presently configured to run this application'.

This is how to resolve this.

It is a 'Windows Update' problem rather than a SellerDeck issue.

See this article: -

https://www.arclab.com/en/kb/sql/odbc-driver-access-unable-to-load-odbcji32-dll.html

Although the site is configured to use ACE ODBC rather than Jet, unfortunately Crystal Reports 8.5 requires Jet and it is probably the initialization of the reporting engine that encounters the error.

Ensure the software is closed then I suggest trying the following in this order to fix the problem:-

Run Windows Update
Install the latest Jet drivers for Win10 from
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255
Download and run 'AccessDatabaseEngine.exe' (not the x64 file)

The filter operation in Sellerdeck returned a script error. The error was: [SyntaxError: parseJSON]

In a Swift site when searching for some but not all search terms an error was generated:

"The filter operation returned a script error. Please try again, and contact us if the error persists. The error was: [SyntaxError: parseJSON]"

This error persisted despite applying known fixes on the Sellerdeck Knowledge base. But there is now a new permanant fix involving editing the SearchScript.pl file.. Issues with IONOS Hosting and Sellerdeck Desktop.

I have become aware of an issue affecting customers using IONOS as a hosting provider. Website functions are not operating as expected since IONOS have implemented certain changes to their environment. This is stopping Sellerdeck sites pre v16.0.4 accessing the cgi bin so customers cannot order goods. Read more at:

Coupon code and value not showing in Swift checkout cart grid

In a default Swift site, when you add a coupon code and go to the next step the cart value drops by the coupon’s discount amount but the coupon itself does not appear in the cart calculations only in the receipt.

Here is how to fix this, a variable seems to have been omitted from the Swift release. https://www.graphicz.co.uk/blog/coupon-code-and-value-not-showing-in-swift-checkout-cart-grid/

The Ability To Scroll The Mobile Menu In Swift – A Fix
Scroll the mobile menu in Sellerdeck Swift
If you have several sections then in Swift in mobile view only a certain number will be visible because the Code:

div.header-section
is fixed. This is so that the mobile nav bar stays visibile but it is annoying as you cannot scroll down to see all the section list.

This is easily solved.

Open the sylesheet and add the following lines to the bottom of the stylesheet but above –
CSSDefinition
if using php minification:
your-extra-css {
position:relative!Important;
}

-support-xs.your-more-css {
display:none!Important;
}
Finally add the following to the javascript footer functions:

$(" -icon").click (function() {
$('.header-section').toggleClass('your-extra-css');
$(' -support-xs').toggleClass('your-more-css');
});
When you click the hamburger the page will be scrollable, when you click again to close the menu the mininav will be fixed.

Email Marketing in Sellerdeck

Engegement with customers and potential customers is an important part of running an ecommerce website. Email addresses can and should be collected dueing the checkout process (with an ‘opt out of communication’ checkbox as in Sellerdeck). you can also ‘harvest’ email adresses by having a ‘Sign Up’ form in your website’s footer or sidebar so people can express interest in hearing about your products and developments. MailChimp is an excellen system and integrates readily into Sellerdeck.
