💻 New Budget MacBook – Worth It or Not?A quick tech opinion from Russell’s Tech Repairs 🔧
Apple has just announced its new entry-level MacBook, the MacBook Neo, starting at around £599, making it the cheapest MacBook Apple has ever released. As a repair tech, here’s a quick breakdown of the pros and cons if you’re thinking about buying one.
👍 The Pros
• Much cheaper than previous MacBooks – This is the most affordable way to get into macOS.• Great battery life – Around 16 hours, which is excellent for a laptop at this price.• Solid build quality – Still has Apple’s aluminium design and Retina display.• Good for everyday use – Web browsing, emails, schoolwork, streaming, and light office tasks should run smoothly.
👎 The Cons
• Less powerful than other Macs – It uses an A18 Pro chip (from the iPhone) instead of Apple’s M-series laptop chips.• Only 8GB of RAM – Fine for basic use, but not ideal for heavy multitasking or creative work.• Missing some premium features – For example, things like a backlit keyboard and higher-end cameras are removed to keep costs down.• Limited upgrade options – Like most Apple laptops, repairs and upgrades can be difficult.
🔧 My verdict:If you want a simple MacBook for everyday tasks, it could be a great option. But if you plan on doing video editing, gaming, or heavier work, you’re probably better off stretching to a MacBook Air.
