When the Past Comes Back to Haunt You…

A customer’s PC kept crashing with a “not enough memory” error.
Plenty of RAM installed. Tests passed. Nothing obvious wrong.

The problem? Windows remembered an old mistake.

Windows keeps a hidden list of memory it believes is “bad.” If it ever detects an issue, it avoids that memory — even if the RAM has since been replaced. Over time, this can trick Windows into thinking it’s low on memory when it isn’t.

The fix:
✔ Cleared Windows’ bad memory list (this customer had a full page! image is an example.)
✔ Properly tested the RAM
✔ Let Windows reassess everything

Result? No more crashes.
