A great subject line does one job:
it earns the open.
Too many businesses try to do too much in the subject line.
They make it too long, too clever, too vague — or they try to cram the whole message into one line.
The best subject lines are usually:
clear
relevant
specific
written with the reader in mind
A good subject line should create just enough interest to make someone want to open the email, without feeling spammy or overhyped.
A few simple rules:
✔ Keep it short
✔ Focus on relevance, not cleverness
✔ Make it feel human
✔ Think about the problem your reader actually cares about
✔ Test different angles over time
Because if the subject line doesn’t work, the rest of the email never gets a chance.
