The shop floor is full of goodies from a huuggeeee amount of independent artists, crafters and small business from our local area.

Our upstairs gallery is still a work in process but will also be open by the end of the week! Plus there’s plenty of artwork on the walls downstairs for you to browse ☺️

🎧✨ Echoes from the Past: Scarborough’s Lost Aquarium
📍 Now at Scarborough Art Gallery

Did you know Scarborough once had one of the world’s first purpose-built aquariums? From alligator pools to musical acts, and even a visit from Channel-swimmer Captain Matthew Webb, the site near the Rotunda was once a hub of wonder and entertainment.

Now, it’s back, through sound.

This immersive exhibition brings the lost Aquarium and Gala Land back to life using motion-tracked headsets, archival images, and soundscapes recorded on-site and in Brighton’s sister aquarium.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Scarborough-based academics Dr Kevin Corstorphine University of Hull and Dr Matt Barnard, University of York and has been funded by the Ferens Educational Trust.
