Upcoming changes are happening on FREEVIEW & here is what you need to know!

A whole range of popular TV channels will be gone from Freeview in the UK from June 2022. The COM7 multiplex signal, used to beam content to living rooms, is being phased out in favour of modern 5G mobile technology.

The UK network EE won the auction last year to use this frequency, which will allow it to provide much faster downloads and a more stable connection to phones that are compatible with 5G.

As a result of the closure of this signal, this will have an adverse effect on both HD and standard-definition channels.

It is likely that channels like BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD, and More4 +1 won't be available in their regular slots from June 30th and, in some cases, will disappear entirely.

There is no word yet as to whether these popular services will be moved to new frequencies or cancelled altogether, but it is estimated that over 20 million homes could be affected by the changes. BBC channels like BBC Four HD may simply move online, with viewers tuning in via iPlayer instead of the Freeview channel.

There is one certainty: Freeview users will need to retune their TVs and set-top boxes at some point in June to accommodate the changes. An announcement will be coming soon regarding what will happen to all of the content currently available.
