People learn and process information in different ways, which is something to remember during Learning Disability Week.

Assistive technology can make a real difference, but training is what helps people apply those tools with confidence in real situations.

This was reflected in a recent review for Subi, one of Remtek’s Assistive Technology Trainers:

"Before I started this training I was terrified of the whole internet, programs stuff. But Subi with her calm, patient, and encouraging manner has shown me not to be terrified, but how to use all the software to my advantage."

The review went on to explain how the training gave them the confidence to use what they had learnt to support their studies and achieve their goals.

That is why personalised training matters. It is not just about showing someone how a piece of software works. It is about patience, understanding and helping each person build confidence at their own pace.

A huge well done to Subi for the support, patience and encouragement shown throughout this training. Feedback like this shows the difference thoughtful, person-centred support can make.

This week is Learning Disability Week, and the theme for 2026 is “Do you see me?”

A reminder that those with a learning disability should be seen, heard and valued, not underestimated.

For many with a learning disability, paid work is something they want and should have fair access to. Organisations should not overlook that potential. With the right support, many people with learning disabilities can succeed and make valuable contributions in the workplace.

Assistive technology can provide that support. From text-to-speech software to mind mapping tools, screen readers and organisation support, the right technology can reduce frustration and build confidence.

For many with learning disabilities, the aim should not be to change how they think. It should be to provide tools that support how they process information, complete tasks and communicate.

Throughout the week, we have shared posts around sustainability and reducing waste.

For World Environment Day, the focus turns to the wider picture. This year’s theme is climate change, a reminder that organisations have a role to play in how they use energy, reduce waste and manage day to day operations.

For Remtek, this includes reduced paper use, home working, transitioning our fleet to electric vehicles, carefully planned field visits and energy-efficient lighting.

Sustainability is not always about one major change. Often, it is about making better decisions consistently.

World Environment Day is tomorrow, making this a good time to think about the choices we make every day.

This short video shares three simple ways people and organisations can be more sustainable, from choosing longer-lasting equipment to reducing waste and working with companies who take sustainability seriously.

Better choices do not always need to be complicated. They just need to be consistent.

Assistive technology is not just about software, equipment or devices. It is about access.

For some, it means reading more easily. For others, it can support communication, organisation and reduced cognitive load.

World Day for Assistive Technology is a reminder that the right tools, guidance and training can help make everyday tasks more manageable.

Assistive technology should be part of how we create more accessible workplaces from the start.
