Why do we try to sell out of school uniform before term starts?

Ever wondered why we’re so keen to sell through our school uniform stock before the children return to school?

It’s because once the new school term starts, demand changes dramatically.

During the summer holidays, parents are actively buying school uniform. They’re replacing outgrown items, preparing for a new school year and making sure the children have everything they need.

Once that first day back arrives, however, that rush largely disappears.

And here’s something that’s easy to overlook:

Every item sitting on our shelves is money we have already spent.

We have paid our suppliers for that stock, and until it is sold, our money is tied up in it. If we’re left holding large quantities of school uniform after the start of term, that stock may sit on our shelves for months before we get another opportunity to sell it.

Meanwhile, we still need to buy the next season’s stock, which means finding space for new products while continuing to store existing stock.

That’s why the weeks leading up to the new school year are so important to us.

We’re not trying to create artificial urgency, and we’re certainly not trying to stop you buying school uniform after term starts.

We’re simply trying to make sure that the stock we bought specifically for the back-to-school season actually sells during the back-to-school season.

So if you know you’re going to need a new jumper, PE kit or those inevitable “Mum/Dad, I’ve grown again!” replacements…

Please don’t leave it until the first week of term. 😄

Every item you buy before the new school year helps us enormously — and means we can get on with preparing for the next season rather than looking at stock for the next six months!

As we enter our busiest period of the year, please be aware of the following timescales:

Primary School Orders
Orders placed on or after 21st August may be subject to delays and, unfortunately, may not be ready for collection before the start of the September school term.

Secondary School Orders
We are currently expecting Secondary School orders to be ready for collection before the start of the September school term.

You will receive a text message once your order has been completed and is ready for collection, whether your order was placed online or in-store.
