Today marks 116 years since women’s rights advocate Clara Zetkin first proposed the idea of International Women’s Day. Just think… 116 years! An extraordinary milestone. In that time, we’ve seen meaningful progress toward gender equality, with some industries embracing change more readily than others.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, highlights the strength we find in coming together, supporting and creating opportunities for growth, regardless of age, gender, or background.

Giving takes many forms. It can be sharing knowledge and experience, offering advice, understanding individual differences through financial support, or simply encouraging someone when their confidence falters. Sometimes, it’s as thoughtful as a message from someone you once met at an event, reaching out because you crossed their mind.

There truly is no industry quite like the jewellery world. I’ve witnessed firsthand how people come together to support one another during challenging times. Every individual in this collage has demonstrated their commitment to the industry, be it through education, mentoring, or creating opportunities for others. Some play a vital role behind the scenes, yet each person has generously given their time and energy to give back.

Since moving to the UK, I’ve had the privilege of meeting these inspiring and generous individuals who continue to shape and strengthen the industry. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of the UK jewellery community.

It’s been a while since we’ve had such a busy social work month, and March is definitely one of them!

Next week, we’ll be heading to The Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council Awards night in London, where we’ll celebrate brilliant creative talent and see our friends across the industry.

Then, on 16th–17th March, we’ll be exhibiting at the Retail Jeweller Festival in London. We’ll be showcasing 3DESIGN Version 13 and advising on the training options available to help you build your confidence in CAD.

On a personal note…
If you see me at a work event this month and I seem a little socially awkward, please know it’s because I’m still emotionally going through a lot. A simple question like “How are you?” doesn’t always come with a simple answer.

So, I’d truly appreciate a hug. And if you feel up to it, please ask to see a photo of Avi. Like any new mom, I’m so proud of my baby boy. He looks just like a newborn, peacefully fast asleep. Of course, I completely understand if you’re not ready for that.

With this month marking my company’s 8th anniversary, I am not quite where I imagined I would be. Don’t get me wrong, I am incredibly proud of what I’ve built and achieved. I’ve always been focused and driven, even throughout my pregnancy, but people evolve. We all do. We can’t remain the same forever. We have to be open to new experiences and challenges and adapt along the way.

When I first started Sierra Consultancy, I would work relentlessly, day and night, to get things done. Since returning to work after the loss of our beautiful son, Avi, I’ve learned to give myself permission to take the occasional “me day.” That doesn’t make me lazy, weak, or fragile. It’s a conscious and necessary choice to protect my mental health, reset, and regain focus for the next day.

I am so grateful to those who have reached out after experiencing similar losses and shared their stories. I won’t lie, some days are harder than others. I am still learning how to carry this grief and move forward while navigating a new normal.

This year, my priority is not only to take better care of myself, but to remind myself what has always served me well: setting clear goals each year and focusing on what I can do, rather than what I can’t.

Thank you all for your kind messages and continued support as I step into this new year. Wishing you good health above all, and every success in the year ahead.

Before everyone puts their out-of-office on, we’d like to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership throughout the past year. It has truly been a pleasure working with you, and we greatly value the relationships we’ve built together.

We’ve been collaborating with the wonderful Kari Munro for as long as we can remember. She’s endlessly creative, full of colour, and never short on ideas. Our partnership has always clicked because we just get each other.

Kari recently shared photos of some of the latest designs we created together, and we couldn’t be prouder. We’ve always admired her vision, energy, and determination.

As we’ve been easing back into work, this week we had the pleasure of hosting a two-day training session with the talented Asta. Previously, Asta used Procreate to create her designs and would get client approval before passing them on to a CAD designer. Wanting to streamline her process, gain more control, and learn a new skill, she joined us to get hands-on with 3DESIGN.

Asta quickly got to grips with the software, and when we tested her along the way, she confidently remembered how to start building her designs. With a bit of guidance, she’s already picked up some key CAD terms—like Boolean Operation, Curve Sweeping, and Mirror!

Take a look at what she achieved in just two days—an impressive leap from complete beginner to a strong intermediate level. We’re excited to see the amazing designs she’ll create in the weeks ahead. We especially love that she’ll continue using Procreate for her initial sketches, then import them into 3DESIGN to bring her jewellery concepts to life for manufacturing.

And a big thank you to House of Nuygen for providing us with such delicious and nutritious food to keep us going during the training sessions!

As Baby Loss Awareness Week (9–15 October) approaches, Sandeep and I want to give our deepest thanks to everyone who has checked in on us, spent time with us, given us the tightest hugs, and helped us raise awareness and funds in memory of Avi.

Talking about stillbirth is never easy, and it never will be, but your love and kindness have helped us find our voice, and that means more than words can express.

Navigating our new “normal” and returning to work has been tough, and we’re so grateful to those who continue to support us through it. Our hearts will always be broken, but thanks to you, Avi’s short life has a purpose beyond just us.

With your generosity, we’ve already raised a staggering £7,871, which will be shared with our chosen charities. Our JustGiving page will stay open, so please do share it if you can. We will be contacting Abigail’s Footsteps and update you on which hospital their baby cold cot will go to.

Your support has lifted us, and we hope that in turn, other families will find comfort during their hardest days.

We would also like to highlight another charity that has become so important to us: Tommy’s, the pregnancy and baby charity. They run a Rainbow Clinic, a research centre, and a Helpline that I’ve turned to on my lowest days. The work they do and the support they provide to families like ours is truly incredible, and we would encourage you to read more about them.

We are also grateful that the British Allied Trade Federation accepted my charity application to support Tommy’s, because every bit of help really does make a difference.
